you are failing to acknowledge what a hole it puts a team in when the learn a new system early in a season....we have new schemes on both sides of the ball........and had no OTA's etc. which makes the hole we start in HUGE.

Cards are inserting a new QB in an established scheme. That is pretty significant compared to what we are doing.

Look i'm no idiotic homer who is saying were making the playoffs. But this is one of the winnable games on my list, which yes is a fairly short list obviously.

to each their own....I just don't see week 1 being winnable. Not w/ new schemes and no OTAs.....and a rookie QB. We are working on installing and other teams are working on perfecting. That means we realistically should me a lot more errors (self inflicted than a team like AZ).

I think AZ is one of our weaker opponents....but I think we have a better shot at beating better teams once we legitimately have things rolling along a tad further.

We will see....would like to be wrong but winning in week 1 would be much tougher than say beating Tampa in meeting #2.

Right now, almost anything could happen. If the running game works, and the dline plays a little better than it did in preseason, it could be close. If not, then we might just get drubbed.

yeah, I am also factoring in that Double Trouble hasn't done squat really when a season opens since they have been formed.

Sure they do. Stop the run. Standard Smitty coverage......pressure the rookie QB (and there is enough tape to no his footwork goes to hell when pressured) and no every pass is going to a TE as no other WR can get open in single coverage.

We have WRs who can get open. We just don't have any who can catch.

Arizona had one of the worst defenses and worst offenses last year. They had one (maybe 2) quality wins and got blown out by some really bad teams. And beaten by us.

Unless Kolb is that good we should have a chance to hang around

Could be a terrible game to watch though.

Kolb isn't that good. He has done less then Matt Moore. One team every 2 years falls for this Andy Reid trick. He makes a QB look great in his system then he trades them for TOP players and Picks. Setting the team who traded for the player back a few years. Zona is this years sucker.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
