If Bellichick didn't have Tom Brady fall into his lap, the Patriots and him wouldn't get nearly the credit they always do for being geniuses.

See Moss deal what they gave up/got back. See Cassel, see Seymore. They got Ocho and Haynesworth for nothing.... I think the Pats FO is 100x better than ours. Sorry can't get excited.

Don't get your hopes up just due to being excited that we got someone. He's not a world beater, he's just decent depth.

Decent depth in New England. He will start here--eventually. Would Munnerlyn have lave lasted this long in New England's camp? Stanford?

No is the correct answer to both. Stanford would never have been invited.

I think they cut Stanford and move him to the PS. They could drop McClain off the PS.

I trust Meeks to teach him up to some of his potential. If our defense really does create any pressure like it's supposed to then it will cover up some of his weaknesses. What I love about this move is that it gives us depth with a cheap promising young player.

Also, it buys us more time with Brandon Hogan. Don't count him out. He could eventually step into our #2 CB role late in the season.

Yeah, the Pats and Bill Belichick are such stellar talent evaluators that they just cut their 2nd round pick from 2009. The only other two teams from 2009 that dumped their 2nd round picks? The Panthers and the Broncos!

Judging from the Patriots forum, seems like more than half the posters there think Belichick is clueless when it comes to drafting.

I know he's made some great picks, it just seems like he's good at bending other GM's over in trades but not so great at evaluating talent.

All we need is a serviceable DT who can pass a physical, and we're good.

We are shopping. Vs. Arizona we will go with three.

The waiver wire has been good to the Panthers this year.

Hangartner

Jean Gilles

Butler

Selvie

TuTu

At the very least our depth is a ton better. However, I imagine Butler, Ajututu (sp) and Hangartner start very soon.

Aside from Hangartner, the rest are young with some upside. If we can get them going, it is like we had another draft.

All those moves are made when you have fuging Tom Brady fall into your lap. This is the same FO that couldn't do poo with the Browns????

They have made mistakes - Laurance Moroney, Merriweather are 2 1st round picks they cut and got nothing for them. You can fug up and still look good with Tom Brady as your QB.

Remeber that???

You're looking at this the wrong way. The Patriots sign proven veteran players and that is almost exclusively the way that they stock their team with starters. They rely on someone else's work.

There's a reason that they pile up draft picks but rarely use them, it's because of that philosophy, they are actually really pooty at evaluating talent.

    • I'm more impressed with the UDFA that the guys they have drafted in the first the last 2 years. A whole lot of prove it is still needed before any improvement should be talked about seriously.
    • Sure.    ignore that he said this roster wasn’t good in 2023 to 2024 but keep up the effort
    • While I don't believe its a must win, (we have been better on the road this post season) it is definitely A NEED TO WIN the longer this series goes the more pronounced the Canes advantage on rest and health will be! If we hold serve at home in games 1 and 2 guaranteeing a 6 game minimum series for them if we lose the road games..... by the game 4 and 5 I expect them to be beat they have played A LOT OF HOCKEY the last three years, they have MINIMAL rest off a more physical than one might have expected series vs the leafs.... you know Tampa took their pound of flesh in round 1 from them. Combine all that with the fact that even though this year's canes squad isn't as talented as last years this IS a better squad than the one they swept last time that had McKenzie Mckeathern on line 1 Turbo with a broken hand a banged uo and eventually concussed Slavin (and even though it was a sweep 6 OTS and 4 1 goal losses is hardly dominant)  This year Bob hasn't been superman (hes probably gonna still have a great save percentage agiast us just a side effect of our style) Thatchuk is maybe 50% (3 game winners agiast us) their defense no longer has Gudas and several other downgrades.  While the Canes have a healthy and performing Svechnikov along with other big guys to counteract florida like Carrier, Jankowski, Robinson.   I by know means think it will happen but I either see this as a low scoring dog fight or a series were the canes surprise and end up dominating.
