Mastermind skip bayless tell key to shutting down Cam

Only rush 4 and drop 7 into coverage... I hope green bay takes note so next week Williams, Stewart and Cam can rush for 422

Agree. What Bayless fails to recognize is that by dropping that many Cam is helping the run game; the exact opposite of what everyone said NFL teams would do against him, sit 7 or 8 in the box to stop the run.

Cam is already forcing D coordinators to make the first move. Pretty cool.

I remember seeing a graphic in one of the games I watch of him in college. Can't remember which game it was as I didn't watch too many of his college games on TV. But the graphic showed how his passer efficiency in college v. the blitz was astronomically higher than v. non-blitz. He is so big and so strong and has such a strong arm that even with inside pressure where he wasn't able to step into the throw he could deliver accurate throws downfield. reminds me of Farve gun slinging it off his back foot when he was younger. Did a google search and did come up with this.

Cam Newton Neutralizes the Blitz

Newton came into the Arkansas game completing more than 70.0 percent of his passes against the blitz, with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. His pass efficiency rating of 258.4 against the blitz was exactly 100 points higher than his efficiency rating when a defense sends four rushers or fewer and drops into coverage. Yet, the Arkansas defense brought the blitz on more than 64 percent of Newton’s passes, and he made the Razorbacks pay. He completed eight-of-nine passes against Arkansas’ added pressure, for 132 yards and a touchdown.

Exactly. Sending the house against Newton plays into his strengths not his weaknesses. His weaknesses are reading coverages and throwing the ball into tight windows and remaining disciplined and not running.

Green Bay will bring the house on third and long or perhaps at the beginning of the game but watch how it changes quickly if Newton burns them deep a few times or takes off running. Expect them to use a linebacker as a spy as well to limit his rushing.

I expect GB to have good gameplan for Newton. The Cardinals didn't see this Cam in the preseason and didn't know he could throw so well, but the Packers have some good film to study and should play Newton a lot better. The only way we can have success is if our running game can get going and our O-line protects. I don't want Cam having to carry the load like last game. I'd like to see more of double trouble than Cam in this game. Should be a good one regardless.

That have a pretty solid linebacking corps.

not sure coverage is their strength though......I think they are much better suited for rushing the passer and going after the RBs. I expect Olsen/Shockey to be key. Smith....not so much this week.

Matthews and Hawk can do both, from what I've seen. 3-4 of course, so they'll be doing some blitzing.

Their secondary is way better than what we faced last week.
