HOGAN OPTIMISTIC: Rookie cornerback Brandon Hogan, on the physically unable to perform list following December ACL surgery, thinks he'll be eligible to play after Week 6.

"I've just been doing everything the doctors have been telling me rehab-wise, running-wise," said Hogan, the Panthers' fourth-round pick out of West Virginia. "So hopefully by then I'll be ready to go. I think I can step in and help a little bit."

Didn't see this posted or heard anybody mention anything about it. Its last week but it kinda got me excited, im ready to see him play. Going off this and training camp, he sounds like he is in good condition.

Thomas Davis has made me very nervous about people coming back from ACL surgeries perhaps too early. I'd like to see where we are at record-wise, and see how Munnerlyn, Gamble, and Butler are doing before deciding one way or the other if he should come in and play.

Thomas Davis is just injury prone, many people have come back from ACL tears without a problem, and Hogan had his surgery nearly a year ago. So he should be ready.

Used to, not any more.

I'm very excited about this kid- injury and character pushed him to the fourth, thought I read he had 1st or 2nd round talent.

Yep 2nd round talent, just his character was in question. Ready to see what he can do on the field.

I had ACL reconstructive surgery last October 27th, and I was able to come back and play football in time this year to not miss any of training camp and have not even been bothered by it. I do wear a brace, but its more for psychological support than physical. Point is, it doesn't necessarily take a year to recover from. It varies on what kind of graft is taken an a few other variables

If he does well this year, as well as Butler, we might not have to look at DB in the first 2 rounds next year! :)

Yeah I have been thinking the same thing, how much we address CB next year rides a lot on Hogan. I know Butler has looked good and Hogan was always apart of long term plans, they have already said it. The plan was for him to come in start right away anyway but it didn't happen. When he finally plays, i hope he does come in and blow that 4th round value out the water.

    • good one dude. I guarantee I went to more games than you last year and I live on the opposite side of the country. let me give you some FAQ's to save you some time from asking another dumb question while trying to passively fit your narrative: do I think Bryce is a great NFL QB? No. do I think Bryce is worth a contract extension? Not yet. do I think the Panthers are in a great position to evaluate him and then decide? Yes. did Bryce and the Panthers do enough last year and finish on a high note that has me feeling positive and excited for the next season? Yes. is wasting a single second whining and complaining about a player that I dislike on a fan forum for a football team that is watched for entertainment purposes only an efficient way to spend my time? Definitely not. are the same 5-10 posters that spend hours on here daily racking up thousands of posts focusing on something they cannot control ruining this forum? 100%. will they continue to do so? 100% and probably will do so for the next QB as well because they are miz in life and complaining about things that don't involve them make them feel better about their lives which is a psychological fact.
    • Overall it was a fun pleasant surprise of a game. That final drive by the Panthers was atrocious though. It would have been nice to at least go down landing a few blows not just punching air. We shrunk in the moment. I don't want to say it took away from the rest of the game but it was certainly unfortunate.
