Rivera: Legadu Played Well

Just now in presser. Mentioned Legadu AND LaFell together saying they played well, but I think that was more or less to keep them on equal footing so LaFell isn't seen as a threat to move up in the lineup.

It was his best game, but damn, when will he give this up?:mad2:

if he mentioned it, it's probably because he was asked about it by a reporter. no coach in the league is going to answer with "uhh actually naanee sucked and we fully intend to draw and quarter him publicly on mint street on monday."

and he DID actually have a good game... four receptions for 63 yards.

Anyone notice how much time Applewhite got on the field yesterday over Hardy?

These San Diego alliances have got to die.

Hardy looked like he was a little banged up out there yesterday. there were a few shots of him grimacing in pain.

Also, at least two drops IIRC and a holding penalty.

And he wasn't asked about him on that question, he was asked what "young guys," if any, popped out or "flashed" on the tape? He brought up Legadu and LaFell on his own.

I don't have a problem with using guys he's familiar with, I trust him in any other case, except Naanee.

And I'm not worried about Hardy's spot... I think he's solidified himself with the staff very early on. They love him and he's shown an ability to dominate at times this year and that will only get better. I love that guy...

That being said, the defensive line rotates pretty regularly and I loved the Applewhite pickup, so it was good to see him out there, plus, Hardy looked winded after a lot of those plays towards the end of the game.

Naanee really did play a better game yesterday. I'm starting to think the coaches are behind him because, even if the catch/target ratio is out of whack (and let's be honest, Cam seems to throw him some weird balls, especially that floater that the refs overturned like the idiotic morons they are) Naanee definitely blocks well. He was directly responsible for spring Deangelo on his 69 yd TD run.

Yeah, I think Hardy was getting some well-deserved breaks. I didn't see Applewhite do anything particularly bad, either, so hopefully he can improve and we can continue to add defensive playmakers.

    • You guys remember when the narrative on here was that Bryce would be chronically injured in the NFL due to his size and Anthony Richardson would be super durable due to his? You remember when the narrative was that Bryce was physically incapable of throwing a ball further than 20 yards in the NFL? You remember “I’ll stop complaining when he throws for more than 200 yards and looks like an NFL quarterback”? You remember when 60 sacks was his fault and not the offensive line, slow WRs, and terrible scheme? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It will always be something for some people. Whatever insanity they come up with will be quickly dropped to move on to the next thing. Bryce could have an MVP Super Bowl winning season and they would complain that we can’t run the tush push with him. It will always be something.
    • For the Panthers fans still low on Bryce and demanding that he be a top-10 QB this upcoming season: What stat(s) will you need to see? Not the vibe you want, but rather what does he need to be top-10 in specifically? Passing yards? Completion percentage? Win-loss record? PFF grades? EPA? CPOE? Asking because this was asked before and... well... it ended up that the folks down on him didn't care about the numbers as much as they cared that they just couldn't get passed his size regardless of how he performed. It would be nice to get a straight-forward answer to that without the usual deflection and redirecting.
