Newton is a band aid over how bad we really are.

it dawned on me sunday. take him out of the game and we are just awful. we would never have a chance in any of those games much less a win.

it is entertaining to watch, but the reality is really disheartening.

as much as i doubted the kid at draft, i am glad we have him. cannot wait till the rest of team, mainly defense, catches up.

also we should have taken lloyd, we need that threat on the other side of smith.

dumb move, imo.

wow..I guess some of us are on the same page...I just posted the same "band-aid mentality" concern in the ESPN thread...

I honestly feel that a lot of fans here seem to have a band-aide mentality. All we need is this and we'd be fine. All we need is that and we'd be fine. When if u look at the team, the problem is more than just, a quick "if we just."

This team not only needs a stronger defense, but the pressure for Cam to deliver tds week in and out cannot be forming good habits with him. It's seems as if many of the fans have official shifted all of last years bad mindset into this new season. There is nothing wrong with the Panthers. If the coach and the QB can just get it right, we'd be a competitive team....Our defense is just a little weak. Our offense has good players. It's the QB's job to get it right all the time. Talk about spoiling a team.

I watched the Jets defense hold the Dolphines to two fieldgoals in last nights 24-6 win. Do any of u sincerely believe the Panthers defense could do the same where the offense would just need to put up 17 points to win?

If u sincerely have doubts about this defense getting it done when need be to win against equal or weaker teams, then there lies ur problem. IMO, the main problem with the offense is that they seem to be pieces being put together and the gelling process hasn't fully kicked in.

Definitely true. Too many fans got over-optimistic when Cam progressed ahead of schedule. I guess they forgot about about the other guys. They're still here.

Give us time- a decent draft and some legitimate FA signings and we'll win the games we're losing this year.

Andy Dalton says hi! Newton's anything but ahead of schedule considering how he started off the season. This coaching staff probably is though. His production has gone in the opposite direction since game one and when a QB's positive production = negative production.....it means he's a net 0. So stop dissing the rest of our team.

Newton's a band aid for the poor coaching, not the team. This team is a winning team being coach badly. Not just the QB. Cam's not doing it alone. We have multiple superstars on offense. It's Smith, it's Shockey, it's Olsen, it's Williams, it's Stewart, our O-line who stepped up. He's NOT our entire offense, I don't care what anyone says. It's Smith jumping up in the air 5 feet helping him out on his high balls passes too. It's Lafell making an amazing touchdown grab in the back of the endzone somehow keeping his balance and staying inside. Or Lafell running back 7 yards to grab short passes. It's Stewart catching for 100 yards when the run game is not working. It's Naanee blocking for Williams on an option play for a TD. It's Stewart body blocking a Saint defender and driving him into the ground when Cam's about to get clobbered.

Everybody's making huge plays man. People have drank a little bit too much Cam juice.

I agree, but he has made a lot plays that should never have been. I know he over throws, i stand by the fact that without him, we would be getting blown out to a 0-5 record. We all know he is still a rookie making rookie mistakes but the future is bright when they all catch up and get on the same page. And yes dalton will be ROY.

This team is a winning team being coach badly

What exactly are you basing this on? Our 1-5 start this year or our 2-14 season last year? Are the Packers a losing team getting coached well? How do you tell if a .500 team is a winning team being coached poorly or a losing team being coached well. Are some .500 teams just mediocre and being coached just so-so?

Hmmm...already set football team meet Dalton. U are delusional if u're comparing the Bengals to the Panthers. The Bengals were not a 2-14 team. They may have needed pieces but the team was pretty set. Carson could step back in and do what Dalton is doing.

The person who started this thread was right, some of u really do see Newton as a "band-aide." And that is why u're so quick to blame him and the coach instead of accepting reality. Deja-Vu anyone.

And also, keep believing every ball that Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Aaron Rodgers are perfectly thrown balls and it's not the receivers doing their job. Keep thinking that the receivers on this team shouldn't have to jump or fight for a ball from Cam.. The opposing team defense will continue to helping themselves to turnovers and u can continue to blame Cam.

Anytime you put the number one pick on a 2-14 team who since has added an entirely new staff and schemes, he has a pretty good chance to look like a band-aid. If he is any good he will look like the hero on a team like this. If he is a bust, dolt, whatever, he will look like that.

Thank God he looks like our band aid at the moment because just like with a scrape or cut, skin heals, and when our team heals he will have been a huge part of it.

What moron takes the time to find the most positive thing about something and then say "well what if you took that away?" That is stupid and proves nothing outside of what we already know about the Panthers. They are young. They are injured. The roster has holes in some key spots. The leadership (coaches not captains) is still cutting its teeth as leaders.
