3. Panthers have a top 10 Offense next year

buy. absolutely. our offense will be better next year than in '08.

4. Panthers draft a Defensive player with their first 2 picks

buy. i would even say that both of them will be Dline.

5. Julius Peppers is traded on Draft Day

sell. it will happen before or after if at all.

6. Charles Johnson leads the team in sacks next year

8. Delhomme is the starting QB in 2010

1. Panthers win 10 games next season - Buy 10 games is doable.

2. Panthers have a top 10 defense next year - Buy, our secondary will be a strong point during this coming season.

3. Panthers have a top 10 Offense next year - Buy, improvements upon an already top 10 unit.

4. Panthers draft a Defensive player with their first 2 picks - Buy, one DT, one DE

5. Julius Peppers is traded on Draft Day - Push, it could happen on draft day, but I expect it to take place a couple days before the draft.

6. Charles Johnson leads the team in sacks next year - buy, who else is there after pep leaves. I think he gets 11.5 sacks next season.

7. Marshall starts at corner - Buy, would you rather put Marshall, Wilson or Wesley there??? Thought so.

8. Delhomme is the starting QB in 2010 - Buy, once again who else is there that would be able to take his job away knowing fox??? Thought so.

    • To rub salt in the wound when you look back to what were considered some of the most underwhelming resulting seasons in Panthers history before the Tepper's came along we still managed a top 20 passing offense with journeyman Matt Moore and the ghost of Jake Delhomme in 2009. And Steve Smith was 44th in the league in YAC so it was not a chunk play pass offense. Obviously the run game was dominant with Jonathan Stewart and Deangelo Wiliams but comparatively the run game in 2009 only amassed 500 more rushing yards than the 2025 Panthers in a down year for Chuba Hubbard. It shows just how comically desperate we have become to adjust standards that actually used to mean something.
    • I wouldn't have picked up the option, to me he's that replaceable. I think the Panthers are taking a more cautious strategy, not ready to move on yet but also holding off on committing to him until the last possible time.  Basically, he's a competent NFL QB. He's bottom third in the league. That's actually not a terrible thing. You can win some with a bottom third QB. If over time he takes a few steps forward he might be a median level QB. I think those are the kinds of steps that Canales is talking about. If you've truly got a median level QB, it's probably worth keeping him as opposed to roll on the dice in the draft. But just to be super clear, I don't think he is capable of taking those steps, and I think we should and will move on after the season
    • Unfortunately this is more wishful thinking than anything. The problem is the bar is so low for what they consider success for Bryce Young. I mean we have yet to field even a top 25 passing offense with Bryce Young heading into his fourth season and it's basically considered a when not if we begin contract extension talks with him.
