There are many needs...

Another need is less whiney, chicken little fans.

it doesn't take a chicken little to see that the sky is actually falling on our piss poor special teams.

it's crap. we have by far the worst and least effective special teams in the league.

Whats Mark Jones doing these days?
being old, unemployed, and broken. the dude relied on the wedge for his success. when the rules took away the wedge, he became useless. him getting hurt after he left here didn't help him, either.
priority of needs

1. DT

2. CB

3. OL

4. returners

what kind of explosive returner are you looking for with our 4th pick?

disagree.

RT and OLB are the top 2 priorities. neither otah or davis can or should be trusted to come back and do well. we need to move on from both those guys. we need to get those two guys replaced more than anything.

DT should be addressed in FA or maybe via trade. we have enough youth and inexperience there. if edwards comes back healthy and mcclain and fua have a year under their belts and a full offseason then all we need is another experienced guy and we might have stumbled on him already in ron fields. mcclan, fua, edwards, and fields might just turn out to be the serviceable rotation we need there.

CB...gamble and the capt are fine. butler is good enough. i'd like to see hogan in action. i think CB isn't a problem going forward.

Edwards has shown a lot of improvement by just falling down rather than falling down and fumbling like last year.
true. still not getting any push going forward.

Who many coaches do we need to go through? Maybe we need better players. It doesn't matter if DeSean Jackson or Steve Smith himself were returning kicks. The coverage is non-existent
we have bad blocking and bad coverage. the clocking and coverage scheme has a lot to do with that, but personnel needs an upgrade as well.

we need a couple special team aces brought in with experience. guys that can excel in blocking and in coverage.

we've picked up plenty of linebackers recently and when beason returns this wont be high priority. i can understand RT, especially if there is a chance of getting matt kalil.

Our run defense is beyond garbage. we need DT's and we need them now. Fua is a joke and a bust and ron edwards aint going save the line by himself. now if we get someone with first round talent up their to draw a double team. it could be something formidable.

As far as CB, munnerlyn is too short. we get a team with two tall recievers and we're screwed.

I would definitely go with RT and OLB in the draft IF the FA DT class is good and Hogan shows promise (if he plays this season). With Gamble/Butler/Munnerlyn/Hogan, I think we can be set at CB especially if we can get a penetrating DT. With the injuries we've had at LB, it shows that you can never have enough quality LBs and an elite RT would be great for Cam if Otah can't come back or is hurt again next year. It hurts this year in that we will have a pick in the 6-10 range but there is no sure-fire must-have DT talent like Dareus in this year's draft.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
