Irrelevant Andy Dalton Talk

I'll just leave this here...

5) There seems to be a young QB around every turn these days. Considering Cam Newton’s splash, can any of you make the case that Andy Dalton is actually having the better season?

Neil: No. Only in the surreal world of the media where wins and losses (regardless of how they’ve come about) trump performance can that case me made.

Ben: No, Dalton is having a very impressive season and is making use of all of the tools at his disposal but in spite of the extra wins I can’t see justification for saying that Dalton is playing better. You play to win the game but at an individual level Newton is doing more than Dalton right now.

Sam: No.

Khaled: Nope and to do so would be a disservice to all involved. Dalton could have a year like Sam Bradford. Newton is genuinely having a year for the ages.

Nathan: I would say Newton is having the better season, but if I had to make the case for Dalton I would bring up how he is in the top five in Accuracy Percentage, that he has had fewer really bad games, and that the Bengals have been winning.

    • Having trouble finding all these articles saying the Raiders withheld information. Here’s the latest from Crosby’s surgeon: ElAttrache told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning that Crosby was "doing very well in the early part of his rehab and recovery from surgery to treat a significant meniscus tear and the related stress injury to the bone and cartilage in his knee. He is certainly on track in his planned program." "We truly respect the work of the Ravens' staff with Maxx regarding the contract physical exam. We also understand the challenge the staff faces when tasked to provide a future risk assessment based on an evaluation early in the recovery process," ElAttrache said. "This is especially challenging when dealing with an elite player like Maxx considering the level of commitment necessary for a team to obtain him. The timing of this assessment is unfortunate because the apparent risk will lessen as his recovery progresses and his return to performance over the next few months becomes clear."     So the Ravens excuse is the future risk assessment based on the physical, not that the Raiders withheld information. They found an excuse to save face publicly. They had the right to cancel the trade for no reason at all, but they’re trying to save face with the most acceptable reasoning they can find. I’ve heard and seen the Ravens getting dragged everywhere for this. You know what would be an easy way to put a stop to that if you’re the Ravens and the Raiders were actually the shady ones withholding information? Just come out and say that you were not given all the medical information. But they aren’t saying that. I guess they’re just taking the bullet for the Raiders just because?    Speculation indeed.
    • Two first round picks for a guy with very questionable knees who will be 29 this summer. Yes it is safe to say the Ravens got cold feet.
    • The salary cap is the reason we got Phillips and Lloyd
