Are we going to have a defensive touchdown this year?

I would like to see a Special Teams TD... How long has it been since that happened?

I'm pretty sure we haven't had a KR for a TD since Rod Smart did it last against New Orleans.

I'm almost positive we haven't had a regular season PR for a TD since Week 17 of our SB season.

Smitty versus the Giants.

It's time.

Smitty ran one back against the Seahawks in the playoffs after that... The year we had ZERO running backs and they quadruple covered Smitty the whole game.

Smitty begged Foxy to let him return a punt, that he promptly ran back for a TD. :-)

gotta have a defense to score a defensive TD. not going to score one watching the guy with the ball's back as he runs past us

depends on the position. interceptions are often used to suggest a defensive back is elite, but often it simply means he's getting thrown on a lot. sometimes all it takes is an otherwise average corner getting an underthrown ball in his lap when he got beat in coverage on the outside, and he's taking it to the house.

...still that's not the sort of thing you can really predict. on offense the same guy has the ball at the beginning of each snap, and you can use stats to predict where the ball will go, and how many times it will go there. on defense you can only begin to guess who'll be one of the few guys in any given game to get his hands on a ball.

Goodson had a KR TD called back for holding last season. Against the Seahawks I think.

    • At this point, I think Chubba is the odd man out. I hate that, but I think Dowdle gives us more production and big play ability.  But there is still a lot of football to play.  I think it depends on how much Dowdle will want too.
    • I’ve been anti-trade when it comes to Melo, but the way this season has started, it may be time.  I love his game and he’s a cool dude, but I’m starting to think, if he’s your best player, you’re never going to win anything of significance.  Too many brain farts, too many injuries, and ultimately for as fun and entertaining as he is to watch - his game is indeed a thing of beauty - it just doesn’t translate to wins.  And that’s IF he even plays.  I think it’s time to cash out and maximize the return.  I love Melo, but I think it’s pretty clear what the ceiling is for a team where he is the best player.
    • Every NFL team, college program, hell even HS has numerous "what ifs" that got derailed by injury. It's a brutal sport and half the battle is just getting lucky enough to stay healthy. Doesn't matter how durable you are and how well you take care of your body everyone is one weird hit or awkward twist away from a career derailing injury.
