Are we developing Cam?

I saw plenty of bad habits and techniques early on in the season that aren't there anymore. And while he may have had a bad game this past week, overall his accuracy has improved as the season has gone on.

Yes, there are still things to work on, and I won't be especially surprised if he hits the old rookie wall in weeks to come, but that happens to a lot of guys. It's not unusual for guys to regress for a game or two their rookie year but then get back on their feet.

So to answer the thread question, yes. And it's actually going pretty well so far.

And I sometimes feel u folks spend way to much time focusing on everything Cam and trying to fix him and not on the real issues of this team like, why is ur old coach, who went 2-14, in Dever making it work with a team u guys feel is inferior to the Panthers and a QB who only threw 6/8 passes in his team win this Sunday. So, either the problem lies with the mindset of the Panthers as a whole or the problem lies within the mindset of ur defense and special teams. This team seem to be losing at any cost.

IMO, it seems instead of the Panthers adjusting and fixing whatever issues the team have as a whole, they simply give more responsibilities to Cam and the offense. Which in turn causes the defense and secial team to become complacent. When ur defense and special team is already complacent and playing sloppy and ur offense have a bad day, u can expect to be embarrassed on any given Sunday.

What do you keep blabbering on about dude? What responsibilities? Play QB? What is it that you seem to believe Cam's doing so much extra that nobody else on this team is doing or no other quarterback in the NFL is doing?

He throws the football and at other times he runs with it. And he always has entertaining press conferences. But what in the hell do you want them to do? Tell him to sit on a bench and not play? It could happen.

The offense couldn't muster up more than 3 points on Saturday. The problem lies with the QB. We lost all of our winnable close games and honestly the the team would be winning right now with a veteran starter. He is the rookie QB who needs to learn how to play QB in the NFL. He is the one that needs to be fixed.

There isn't anything anyone can do until he gets better. It's a passing offense. We're running a Air Coryell style offense. It's supposed to result in a bunch of points and yards and that goes for our opponents too. We're getting the yards, but we still need the points. This defense is anything but complacent and it's ranked higher than the offense now even though its missing its 2 best players. Some of you are not used to seeing passing style teams. It always results in high scores, offense and defense.

They get more possessions per game so both teams score more points per game. If you wanna be the type of team that keeps opponents to 17 and under, we need to be a running team again or ask the NFL for an easier schedule. That's the only way to keep the score down most Sundays. Run the clock out.

And Fox is making it work because Fox believes in having an efficient offense not a high yardage offense. Their defense was ranked worse than ours all season. But his offense is now ranked 12th in the league in scoring efficiency and has been for a month now. Since then they started winning. If you want the same thing you become an efficient offense too. You play smart, don't waste downs or possessions, protect the football and do what The Golden Calf of Bristol does: win in the 4th quarter late. But more than anything make sure you win the turnover margin. Don't throw interceptions. Don't fumble. Don't get a 3 and out.

So whatever swagger the Jets still have left after their 37-16 loss to New England was for the most part tucked away Tuesday as they spoke about facing The Golden Calf of Bristol and a Broncos offense that ran the ball 55 times for 244 yards in its 17-10 win in Kansas City on Sunday.

That's what Fox is doing. If we do that too, we have a top 10 defense and win by those scores. The defense only sees the field 4 times a game....maybe. You sure you want that again? The games will also last exactly an hour and feel like 6. Personally I'd take it if it means winning but I'd much rather learn how to win with the one we got now.

More outright fabrications by PFFL. The Panthers don't get more possessions per game. We are 4th in the league for fewest possessions. How do we compare to Denver? They have 10 more possessions than we do.

I think you write these walls of text hoping that people ignore the details, because your "facts" are wrong as often as they are right.

I'm convinced you are the moron that poisoned Auburn's trees.

totally agreed.

all rookie QBs are being developed to one extent or another.

the guys you listed are guys being developed to be game managers who will ultimately prove to be ineffective in an aggressive pass first league. they will have to rely on an elite defense to keep them in games.

meanwhile, cam is being developed like elite QBs are...to carry the game on their shoulders if necessary. the game managers are in systems that will limit the amount of mistakes they make and may make it easier to come by wons early, but guys like newton and peyton (and yes, i just put them in the same class) are put in situations that they can and will make plenty of mistakes, but in the long run they will benefit from the boldness and confidence in their abilities that comes from years like this.

then there's guys like clausen who are developed into paranoid QBs who don't get a jersey after their 1st season.

Ben Rothlisberger went on the record saying the whole reason he became a good 10-20 yard passer was having to chuck it down the field on every 3rd down in his rookie season..

run, run, pass on 3rd and long..

Fwiw, I have been one to give Cam blame when he played poorly. But I don't give him much blame for the performance against Tn. He made some mistakes, no doubt about it. But most of the offensive problems on Sunday were due to the mistakes of others. Olsen had his worst game of the year. Smith couldn't get open. The offensive line did not play well. Several passes that should have been caugh were dropped. The biggest problem was getting down early by a lot. We were forced to throw, and they were ready for it.

And fwiw, Tn's defensive scheme was very good. They did a good job containing Cam.
