Soooo, Pilares?

Haven't heard many talk about that kick return. Pretty nice to see.

First return in 134 games? Since 2003? Yikes.

Hope to see Pilares on the field more often. Kid is fast, has the ability to make some plays. With the season winding down, think it is time to take LA out some more and insert Pilares or AE. Get these guys some real play time, see what we have.

I would have liked to have seen him at least get out to the 25 or 30 on his next kickoff returns. I think he had two after his return for a touchdown, and both times he ran into a wall of defenders short of the 20 yard line IIRC. Strange, since we normally have such great ST protection...

That being said, the dude did something that no one has been able to do here in almost a decade so kudos to him. Clearly this gives him a leg up when it comes time to "evaluate who really wants to be here" as Rivera put it.

not sure if serious...

You guys remember Mark Jones doing punt returns for us a few years ago? He ran in slow motion too but was still our most consistent punt returner since Smitty.

I always thought Jones was pretty decent. How about we put Smitty back at PR, no way he could get TD called back on a holding call.

I do remember Jones, he wasn't spectacular but was very consistent...

Jones was slow as sh*t, lol. Pilares is fast, as you saw up until he reached the kicker yesterday, lol. It looked like he started getting rubber legs towards the end of the run and lost momentum when he juked the kicker. I'm just happy he was able to finish it out.

Maybe he was just tired... but yeah, after about 50 yards he looked like he was about done.

i like what he did and it was exciting to watch since it had been so long since i've seen someone on the panthers pull it off.

not ready to crown him yet, though.

STs coordinator for the lions is danny crossman. THE worst ST coach that has every existed.

i am anxious to see if he (and special teams) can build on this.

for once they weren't an embarrassment. i'd still like to see them do the same against non-crossman led STs.

    • I also didnt think that Tepper was too involved. I think he liked to be engaged in the process but never did he seem to influence anything.  If Im an owner Im in the draft room as well. Hell I get excited about draft season in Madden if I can do it in real life....
    • I realize it about the expectations, but on paper, we drafted players who would have a chance to compete at positions where any could realistically step in and take the job---Freeling?  Yup.  Hunter?  Yup.  Brazzell?  Yup.  It is likely that all three see the field early and often.  Day 3:  Lee?  I see him as the #3 CB and the job is his when they are ready for him--and it is his to lose.  Hecht?  I loved him in mock research and called him the best C in the draft.  He might play a year behind Fortson or he could take the job--regardless, he is the obvious front runner for the 2027 season.  Wheatley?  I see Ransom and Moehrig as basically the same "in the box" type S.  If Wheatley can learn for a season behind Scott, he has the tools to be a serviceable FS, something this team needs.  Finally, Kuwatch seemed to be a PS pick, and he could be--but to win the 4th ILB job, he needs to beat out Bam Morris-Scott and with a 46.5 vertical (I can't do that on the triple jump) and a superior RAS rating, he looks like a special teamer and depth piece.....I forgot about Morgan's comment about giving up the 5th--probably to get ahead of Detroit.  Freeling has the athleticism and the tools to be the best OT in this draft.  The others lacked arm length or something like that--Freeling simply lacks a ton of experience.
