So you watch our defense and you think it's good?

Can I come watch the game with you? (and smoke some of whatever you're smoking)

BTW, our defensive coordinator disagrees with you...

After last week's meltdown against Detroit, which overcame a 17-point deficit to win 49-35, McDermott thought his defense needed a confidence shot. In addition to the video, McDermott gave an impassioned speech and encouraged his players to believe in themselves.

"We were ready to go (Saturday) night," linebacker Dan Connor said of McDermott's talk. "It was (about) the defense has to start pulling our weight. We want to be on the same level our offense is on. That's what it came down. We came out fired up."

Why don't you go figure it out? It's easy.

377/27 =13.97 Above average. Efficient. Which is roughly 15.4. So was our defense. For the same reason. Our offense was efficient.

323/19 = 17.0 Below average. Inefficient.

So a lot better than the Colts.

Let's just keep the post to this and call it a week :D

Alright I'm still confused as to what our friend PFFL actually believes, so can you please go on record for a moment and answer a few questions?

Question 1: Which NFL team has the best defense, and what makes them the best?

Question 2: How much do you think defense matters at all when it comes to winning games?

Question 3: Why doesn't any analyst on TV or radio agree with you? Why do GMs spend so much money on their defense when YPP is an offensive stat and YPP is all that matters?

So a lot better than the Colts. Our team's total scoring offense was more efficient against the Colts. They were not. (Painter threw a pick in the red-zone at the end of the game which affected it most among other stupid things). We won. Works out just like all 99% of NFL games work. Works just about every time. The more efficient offense wins the game.

And here's the questions that actually really matter when in the right context: Losing and winning.

How many of our games have we won when we were the more efficient total offense? 3

How many have we lost when we were not the most efficient total offense? 7

How many have we lost when we were the more efficient total offense? 1

Which game was it that we should have won and our total offense was more efficient in scoring? Was our defense also better than our opponents in yards per points allowed? Why did that happen?

Why is this stat so fuging good at winning and losing and explaining things as well as pin pointing blame? And why am I the only person on the Huddle that knows this, knows what it means and knows how to read it when every other smart sports fan in the world understands it?

Good God, you've morphed again.

How many gmail accounts can one human being own?

Interesting. And why is it that you think those teams have a good defense and why are half of those teams not in the playoffs?

There is a plethora of reasons why those teams have good defenses. I don't use just one stat as a catch all for offense and defense. It is a variety of different stats and usually from their "per possession" stats. The reason why half are not in the playoffs is because their offenses are not very good. The ones that have closer to average offenses (Cincy, Balt, NYJ) do have winning records.
