Armanti Edwards

Perhaps, but then again Steve Smith is probably still the best PR on the team, but he hasn't done it in years.

Starters are almost never return specialists.

No perhaps, the numbers done lie. Also there is a deference in starting your Pro bowl WR at PR and starting your #2/nickle CB at PR.

Also the question has to be asked, What else can AE do? We already know Capt. can play at CB but AE is yet to even get a snap at WR from two head coaches. That says something right there.

I guess next year will be his break out season though just like Jarrett broke out last year...

I just don't understand why the Armanti homers think that any criticism of AE or the pick comes from some hatred for App State. I don't care if Ahmadinejad is our punt returner...all I care is how he PERFORMS. AE might be a great guy, and he was great for App... but so far, the proof is in the pudding. He is not an NFL caliber player.

It sure does, god knows Capt had to beat out all kinds of talented corners to start for our team. Poor Armanti can't beat our any of our scrub WR's, he must suck.

Kick return blocking and punt return blocking isn't remotely the same thing.

For one thing you can't try to block a kickoff, it seems like our punt return team try to block the kick every time, never even get close, and leave Edwards with 5 guys unblocked coming right at him.

Pilares has shown that either we do have ST guys that can do as they are asked, or he makes his own holes. I know PR blocking is different, but it's the same guys out there working. It's been how long since we had a KR TD? That may scream we have inept ST coaching, but at the same time makes Armanti come off poorly now that Pilares has had two solid returns in two weeks. You must also ask yourself if the guy that was blocked in the back would've affected Armanti's return making this thread pointless.

Ok then. Bump this when he puts up good stats as a WR. And if we ever get "good blocking" (Pilares likes our blocking, btw), bump this when he gets multiple nice returns. I'll eat crow.

That won't happen though. So stick to your project excuse, coach excuse, and poor blocking excuse.

Of course pilares will say he likes our blocking, he's not gonna call out or Special Teams.. Just sayin'

The guy who was blocked in the back was past the play when it happened. It wouldn't have affected the return at all, that's why it was an even more stupid penalty.

I will even give AE the benefit of of the doubt by saying our Wrs are not all that bad but they have not even used him in the Wild Cat or a Reverse. Seems like he cant learn or is just not that good to get on the field. The only person that seems to be keeping him on the team is Hurney.

I think your position on AE is pretty clear but one more post ain't going to hurt anything, right?

You and the ECU guy need to form a club.

Is there really another position to take on AE? Its either stick with the facts or just make things up. I choose not to do the latter. I like AE and think he is working his butt off but its just the fact that he is not producing. When our team is losing by 3 points one KR or PR could be the difference and I would like the best guy back there.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
