Panthers Cool With Cam's Comments

I think people misconstrue what he said to mean "I don't ever mess up so when other guys do mess up it pisses me off"

What he was trying to actually convey is that he wants his other teammates to hurt as bad as he does when he screws up or when he makes a bad play or loses a game. He wants others to hold themselves to the same standard as he holds himself to in terms of not accepting failure on any given play or any given Sunday.

I read an article today about that interview and all I've got to say is everyone but Cam is allowed to speak the truth. The media and some folks, treat Cam being QB, like the poor kid sitting at a rich person's dinner table. They pretend to welcome him but they know damn well they don't want him there because he isn't like them.

people will take anything that any high profile sports superstar says out of context for ratings. If you work in the media its your job to fug up someone life for ratings if the opportunity presents itself.

i just hate people in journalism with a passion don't mind my ramblings.

The one part of the interview that intially "concerned" me, was when he said he wants to win, be on a winner and if he somewhere where thats not the attitude or happening he will just go somewhere where it is.

That was a bit concerning at first since if just by chance this franchise doesnt turn it around, Rivera ends up not being the guy, Hurney doesnt draft well etc it kind of made me think in that scenario Cam just might want out of town. BUT then I was like,,,,,, hey.... its about time we have somebody with that mind set who can lead the Panthers back to the promise land, etc and I envisioned the Panthers being an elite team with Cam at the helm ;-)

The fact that everything this kid says, get spun into him being arrogant is seriously telling. Especially when even a blind man can tell that the offense is WAY better than the defense and the defense is hurting the team.

I can bet you dollars to donuts that if Blaine Gabbert was performing like Cam and said the same thing, there wouldn't be any need for an explanation or defending.

I think there's a lot in that interview that has been taken out of context.

I seriously don't know why Cam continues to give ESPN interviews when clear that all they seem to enjoy doing is pushing that "gotcha YA" journalism. Like his situation with Auburn and ESPN handling of it. His drafting experience and them spinning and pushing the "he so stupid and arrogant" image and now this interview. Cam must be a real glutten for punishment.

And what's with the darn The Golden Calf of Bristol comparison?

First off, anyone who isn't afraid of being labeled know Tim is getting away with his bad mechanics because of those around him. Why isn't Tim being compared to QBs in his class? Why is the media always comparing Cam to him or visa-versa. Are they trying to say, Cam is no better than Tim or that Tim is just as good as Cam?

I even read an article where the writer hinted that since Cam is playing so well, then there is NO WAY Andrew Luck shouldn't be as good when he enters the NFL. Yeah, it's good to see how hard Cam has to work to change the negative preception intentional painted against him, while the more preferred QBs get to piggyback off of his talent.

I am backing Newton 100%, if we have guys on the team not taking failure to heart we need them out of here. They might have fit in well with the 'mentality' of 10 but not now, I am sure glad Cam is here to help sniff them out and change their perspectives, and if they don't want to change we need to move along.

Our QB is here to win and is playing to win, but he can't do it by himself.

I assume you listened to the sentence after he said that? He made it clear it wasn't about leaving.

    • I mean, it's easy to say, "Morgan was Fitterer's right hand man, so he agreed with all the mistakes Fitterer made." Life and managerial structures don't necessarily work that way. GMs aren't perfect, and there are going to be hits and misses most every draft. Most would say that if you can get a couple of starters in a draft that you're doing pretty good. Even if X busts, there are still people in that draft, and an undrafted free agent, that look promising. JT looked pretty good yesterday. Calculate in the 2025 draft, which I think is fair, and I'm not going to complain. Where I think Dan has not gotten it right is overpaying a couple of free agents. and, sorry, I don't accept the "Panthers tax" argument because there is modest overpaying and gross overpaying.  I'm very much more critical of Dave Canales. He has to develop the talent that he is given. He also is responsible for his staff and personnel decision is on game days. I'm glad that he saw fit to get JT more involved yesterday. He gets zero credit for Hunter Renfrow, as should've never fired him in the first place, only to rehire him due to injury.  But Dan, I'd give another couple of years.
    • Pass rushers are spot that outside of the drafts elite typically take 2-3 to develope and bro is tripping in 2 games... this team SUCKS no need to be so dramatic
    • Learn to laugh more. The inevitable is on its way and if that was a high point for those people the there is lots more laughter ahead.
