RG III > Cam Newton

We shall see... talk is cheap.

These are the same "experts" who said Cam would struggle in the NFL.

We've all had an excellent lesson on how much faith to put in the opinions of these draft analysts.

Looks like they've changed their minds in less than a year.

Gosh... whatever could have changed their minds? :p

Cam's success has come, in a big part, from his freakish size and athleticism. RGIII is great, but he doesn't have Cam's ability to shake off sacks and tackles and extend plays because of it. Many of Cam's big plays have come from him throwing the ball out of the pocket after he's gotten away from defenders. RGIII's definitely no Mike Vick because he's a much different player and more prolific passer, but his size is definitely not in his favor. He has a chance to be elite but I don't see him being as good as Cam as a rookie.

RGIII is a fascinating prospect, and I could easily see him becomes a top-tier quarterback in the NFL. He's smart, a more established passer than Cam was before the draft, and has elite athleticism much like Cam, although in a smaller frame.

However, unlike Cam, he's not 100% sold on football, and as bright as he is he really has no limits to what he could do away from the field (already earned his degree, working on his master's, looking at law school, etc.)

Not saying he wouldn't work hard in the pros, but I don't know if he'll be all-consumed with it the way that Cam obviously is, and therefore might only play for a few years before deciding to do something more interesting with his life.

As a pro prospect, if he jumps in 100%, he could have a great career, and him, Cam and Luck can be the quarterbacking troika of the next decade.

Ha ha. Come on.

When we drafted Cam, everyone said he wouldn't be able to throw, had character issues, and put up red flags all over him. The Golden Calf of Bristol was sitting on a bench.

Now that Cam and The Golden Calf of Bristol are having success, and proving the general consensus wrong, suddenly RG3 is a no-question talent.

Guy is an athlete and an awesome football player, but it's a tad early for all this speculation for NFL success.

I've even heard Panthers fans say this. The kid has a gun and is more accurate than Cam. But he's not :cam:

When Cam sets his feet, he's as accurate as anyone in the league. When Cam doesn't, RG3 is probably more consistently accurate. He doesn't have close to Cam's arm strength however, which actually works against Cam at times because he will trust his arm to make throws that really need his entire body behind it.

Given time, however, and enough repetitions to drill into Cam the importance of setting his feet on every throw, and I would rank Cam in the same class as any elite QB in the game, with the added bonus that he can make some spectacular throws even without his feet set that very, very few of the elite even could.

Draft hype and media hype is over the top every year. Every year you have the next great QB .

Just like every two year you have the "game of the century" in some sport. It should actually be referred to as "the biannual game of the century"

I like RGIII and think he can be a good NFL QB though and only wish him the best.

whether his feet are set or not, Cam can be terribly inaccurate at times. Consistency is the difference between great and good.

Its amazing how success can change all of the Pros thoughts. I don't know how many times we hear about how players are told they are never going to be successful let along even make it and end up proving everyone wrong. Joe Montana didn't have this, Tom Brady didn't have that. People who we look to predict the next big NFL star really have no way of knowing what a player is going to do when they get to the next level. A can't miss athlete could end up becoming addicted to drugs and becoming the next Ryan Leaf while the undrafted FA could end up getting a shot on a horrible team and give it his all and end up being a hall of fame player. There too many things that could happen to accurately predict how a player will be.

I want the Redskins to draft Robert Griffin.

But, I would take Cam over Griffin any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Cam is a force of nature.

And comparing Griff's arm strength to Cam's is laughable.

Griff throws a great deep ball, as does Cam.

But Cam can generate the kind of velocity on intermediate passes that only the true arm talents like Cutler and Stafford can rival.
