PSL/Season Ticket holder friendships

SCP

Recommended Posts

I am wrapping up my second season of being a PSL owner at BofA. One of the bright sides of the last few years are the people in my section. When I go to a game now, the people in about a 10 seat radius know me and I know them by name. It is pretty damned cool. It also allows me to be fairly obnoxious without getting the stadium security called. These friendships have formed after two short seasons. I'm curious if some of you that have held season tickets for longer have any good stories or friendships that have grown over the years between you and people in your section?

Merry Christmas and as always, I hope Saint fans choke on my sh*t.

Nope.

My pops has season tickets in the lower bowl... I go to a lot of games with him. The people around us, save a few, fuging suck. They bitch when you stand and cheer... to the point of trying to have me tossed 3 times at the Cowboys Xmas eve game a few years back. Every time the security said I was behaving like a normal fan should (not intoxicated, not cussing, in my proper seat, etc). Plus one of the ladies behind us sounds like she's smoked a million cigs and yells "GET EM GET EM GET EM!" on every defensive play.

I'd like to give em all a heaping pile of poo for the holidays.

I've gotten to the point where I know about 20-25 people that sit around me pretty well. When I first got my seats about 7 years ago, the section was a little more quiet but now after every big play we're all high fiving, standing up, slamming our seats while on defense, etc. Some people who would normally sell their tickets to the highest opposing fan bid now will try to call me or other sitting around us first to see if we can find other Panthers fans to sell them to before doing that. I can think of maybe two or three times that I've seen people complain in our section about standing and those were people who were not regulars. And this is in the lower bowl.

We also have a good group of people in our tailgate lot who we've gotten to know that sit in different sections all over the stadium.

I know a good amount of people, just the ones I have met getting different tickets.

If I get the club seats, there is a nice couple that sits behind us that I like a lot

If I get 541, the old guy next to us is freakin hilarious and will talk poo with me the whole game.

If I get my Godmother's 225's, there's a guy I met and am now friends with on FB who is super sweet and sits in front of us with his parents (he might even be a huddler, I wouldn't be surprised)

We'll be in the clubs for Christmas Eve

I think I've sat very close to 225 is that to the lower left of where JR sits?

We know the ones around us - even the ones who live in Raleigh and only come once or twice a year - they give away their tickets for the rest of the games. I've seen kids grow up, kids get married, and in the case of mine, people have seen my son go from around age 6 to age 21 and they remember when I was pregnant with my 11 year old. That's the kind of stuff that's neat for me. There have been times when I've gotten a call from a neighbor letting me know they had extra tickets and asking if I knew anybody or they've asked me if I'm going to miss a game because they need extras or whatever. I know who is never going to miss a game and who always leaves early - winning or losing, it's just their thing. I've seen one guy come to a game with his wife for years.....and then the next year he comes with his girlfriend and they behave like teenagers in love (they're probably in their 50's and he weighs at least 350 pounds - maybe more). Then the next season they're married. I like that it's like that. It's like a little panthers family. You also get to know the staff too - the ones who are always in the same spots. Some of them are amusing so you get a nice show.

We have some people that have been there forever, and some that sell their tickets to opposing team fans at stupid prices every freaking game.

I am up and cheering the whole time and have never been told to sit or calm down, and the security guy likes me enough to not have thrown me out when I wanted to start fighting some asshole Steelers fans this summer when I was kind of drunk.

You are lucky enough to have PSL holders all around you. With exception to behind me and few seats on the flanks, the seats around me are sold to the general public. One week I have grandma in front of me, the next, a family with two children under the age of five. It's rare I get a solid group where I can cut lose and actually get loud while saying the word poo without getting the "I'll call security on you" glare.

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
