With one game to go

NO will be playing for a bye. Plenty to play for.

I am also of the feeling that we do not need to spend a pick on a WR. If Blackmon drops to us, which is very, very doubtful, then I would seek a trade. Drop back about 10 picks and get another second rounder.

Other than that, we are 8 or 9.

I've been seeing us getting Reiff in a lot of mocks, how good is the kid? Don't really watch any college football, so I don't really know about any of the guys until near draft time.

Janoris Jenkins in the 2nd if he falls that far???

People seem to be pretty high on Reiff, I'm not fully sold. I've watched a couple full game tapes of Iowa from 2010 and 2011 and Reiff is obviously a great OT. One thing I worry about, which is critical for an offensive tackles success in the NFL, is his footwork. It looks like he's on rollerskates sometimes, but looks dominant at others.

I'd look for Hurney to attempt to trade down

Currently, it looks like KC and Buffalo picking right after us. Trade scenarios would be someone wanting to get in front of those two teams. Not sure what their biggest needs are at the moment, but again, something has to be there worth trading for. Unless Blackmon drops, I don't see a trade partner for us.

    • BPA in draft all the way. Address your biggest needs in free agency.
    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.
    • As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.   I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.    I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?   I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.    Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.    For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.  Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.
