Another religious NFL QB

Who knew??

Rivers is an active Catholic and does a great deal of work in speaking with youth about spirituality. He states that, "I feel fortunate that I have the physical and mental tools to play the game... In turn I would like to use the popularity I have and have been given for the glory of God, to share with young people about how to be a better person - how to do things the right way." Rivers encourages youth to look to spirituality to understand that sexual intimacy should be reserved for marriage.

So...why he he not getting the media coverage? Is it maybe he is not an attention hound? That's the only difference I see in him and The Golden Calf of Bristol....except he is a much better QB.

Just do not understand the The Golden Calf of Bristol fascination.

Just a couple of reasons off the top of my head...

Rivers doesn't take the field with eye black bearing bible verses.

Rivers hasn't done an anti-abortion commercial

this and there's no need to argue that rivers is a good qb. The Golden Calf of Bristol is so fuging terrible that analysts (skip bayless) try to take an outside approach to the debate in an attempt to look smarter and garner more attention.

i don't buy in to the abstinence quote either. judging by his personality he was probably pounding mad vag at NC State

Still don't see how The Golden Calf of Bristol's an attention hound.

And, as I've said before, a lot of it comes from the subconscious american zeitgeist that encourages cheering for the underdog. No one thinks The Golden Calf of Bristol can play in the NFL, not to mention he has an unconventional (to say the least) style. So this makes a lot of people cheer for him.

But he's not an attention hound, from what I've seen.

    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
    • Inappropriate relationship with a team staffer, followed up with some stalking behavior, and ultimately a felony home invasion charge from a visit at her apartment that culminated in him threatening her life and his as well.
