A father tells how his son got a ball from Cam

Just wanting to be honest here. It will become a cool tradition...but not Cam's idea. If someone can research, I think Shula ....but the right person should get credit. Not being negative....but giving credit where it is due.

that's understandable, but I think all the players deserve credit for continuing it.

Cam isn't the first Panther to run or throw for a touchdown.

He just does it better.

actually williams did it a couple years ago for quite a while. in oakland he actually got spit on by fans as he was trying to find a panthers fan to give it to.

in green bay he gave one away and then tried tossing it to another fan and had it spiked down by a packers fan.

it was smitty's suggestion, though.

Get what you mean, but I love stories like this.

These are the kinds of things that form a deep bond between the team, the city and the fans.

i agree, but it's bordering on worship. "please?!?!? can i just touch the ball???"

it's just a personal thing.

Got to love pathetic fans. Similar to the baseball fans that throw HR balls back onto the field - I'm glad they get ejected from the stadium.

Sadly, Cam did not think of this himself. There was an article early in the season...a coach ( I think Shula?) had to tell Cam to give back....give the ball to a kid. then he started. (Who can link to this?) So, it is a contrived image thing. Cool for the kids though.

All Shula did was suggest it to Cam. He didn't demand him to do it. Cam could have done it that one time and left it at that. The fact that he's doing it at every game seems more like something he enjoys doing.

I wonder if Shula suggested that of any of the other players, especially since they also do their little routine when they score TDs?

    • I don't know that anyone is hating on Bryce.  I would think we all want him to put it together. I just have to ask though...did you watch our preseason games?  We have plenty of reasons to be concerned.
    • Yeah but at least that QB would be not short.  I keep going back to the fact other than Wilson no other short QB has ever won a Super Bowl. The success rate of short QBs is very, very low. Like count on one hand low.  Yeah some people would include Brees too but I don’t consider a 6 foot tall QB short, imo.
    • I just rewatched all the highlights from after Bryce being benched. The Bryce hate needs to calm down a little bit. He showed a ton of potential the back half of the year. Same with Legette. They both made great plays when it mattered and a few mistakes when it counted. If we didn’t have a historically awful defense last year we could have ended even a bit better. Going into a brand new season we should be optimistic at least before game one. 2015 no one expected to go anywhere and the team steam rolled the league. I’m not saying that will happen, but hopefully we made strides to improve on the end of last year. Bryce put both Super Bowl teams in a battle last year and if we had a better D we could have taken them both. So at least look forward to the season and not past the season until it at least begins.
