They were comparing Jimmer to Steve Nash..they have nothing in common..Jimmer honestly reminds me more of Jamal Crawford than anybody....its stupid, but yes..these guys are getting called out on it so..

Marino-2300 yards 22 tds 8 turnovers 58% completion

Apples and Oranges. Only 8 players in 1983 had above 60% completion rate.

This year, over half the starting qb's in the league are higher than 60%. Rules are different now than they were then.

I agree that comparing Newton to Russel was irrational. Roethlisberger is a more accurate comparison. Or perhaps Vick. Cam runs better than big Ben, and he throws better than Vick, but those are probably the two closest comparisons.

I also thought the comparison to VY was legit beyond race, because VY ran a similar offense in college. The comparison to Russell was totally absurd and a clear example of "racial profiling".

Also, Newton really reminded me of Akili Smith moreso than Russel or Vince. Guess thats why im wasting my life on this forum and not bringing in big $$ for an nfl team :mad:

Cam shouldve been compared to Manning and Marino. His rookie season is comparable to theirs if not better.

the good thing is that from now on that is going to be the standard by which he is gauged. the bar has been raised quite a bit as far as expectations and comparisons.

more importantly, top rookie QBs coming into the league will be compared to newton and not manning.
