Panthers have the third highest cap figures in the league will have to cut and restructure contracts before new league year in march.

Yea, that's not surprising with the money owed to Smith, Wharton, Gross and Gamble plus Johnson, Williams and Beason's deals are front loaded.

That also probably contains the 5 million base salary and cap hit currently expected to be made by Thomas Davis. If he's cut before the year starts that goes down to virtually nothing.

I don't understand how our cap is so high considering we haven't signed any players besides vet min and Mare in the past two years. I don't believe we are still playing players like Jake so how is our Cap this high? All I can say is if we don't restructure and cut some players then Hurney should be fired for putting us in this situation. No way a team that is coming off a 2-15,6-10 season with NO big free agent acquisitions have a team salary this high.

Um, we haven't signed players but anything to the vet minimum? Did you not see Charles Johnson's 70+ million contract? What about Kalil's? Beason, Anderson, or Davis'?

What is just as important as the amout of money committed to next year's cap is the NUMBER of players that amount is committed to.

All of our free agents have a $0 cap hit for next year.

And restructuring doesn't necessarily mean "guys will be more willing to take less money". It just pushes the the costs down the road. That's why we are where we are. Kinda like our government is doing.

Thats people who were re-signed. I am talking about us signing new players to come to Carolina.

I think Wharton,Davis, and Otah should make a restructure. I know Davis and Otah don't make that much but every bit helps.

I would love to see us restructure Gamble but I don't know if he will take a pay cut with the kind of year he just had.

NOBODY does. Nobody knows what the league revenue is. The fiscal year hasn't ended yet.

That's kind of what I thought but didn't know if I was missing something. Since we don't know what number we have to hit we certainly can't know what we need to do to hit it.
