your favorite offensive and defensive pick..

Excluding Kalil,Blackmon,Clairborne and no trading back

As of right now for me

Offense: Alshon Jeffrey

I just love the possibility of adding a big weapon for Newton. I feel like Jeffrey could be a deadly redzone option for Cam and will open up more single coverage for Smith for the duration of his career, much like having Moose did. A 4 wide receiver set of Smith,Jeffrey,Lafell, and Gettis would make me feel more confident against high powered offenses like New Orleans than any defensive player would here. Would also be nice insurance in the case of an injury to Smith or any other receiver.

Defense: Janoris Jenkins:

Corner was the biggest need going into the season on D last year and remains true this year

The draft does not have a lineman or linebacker that makes more sense here, further supporting the decision to go corner here. Jenkins is the most proven player to be NFL ready and would be a great compliment to Gamble. Speaking of which if Gamble got hurt I'd be terrified of captain or butler facing #1 receivers.

Assuming we're talking about our 1st round pick

Offense: Reily Reiff

Defense: Undecided, right now leaning toward Still or Coples. NOT Kirkpatrick. My feelings about Coples are following a similar trend as my feelings did about Cam last off season. Severe doubt leading to cautious optimism. We'll see if it progresses to unquestioned faith before the draft like last year, too (but I doubt it).

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
