Draft update. Dre Kirkpatrick tonight.

Before you bring up separation...how did he get caught from behind if he didn't get behind the DB in the first place?

You must not like logic. Try again.

You must not be familiar with zone defense.

If he can't outrun college LB's, what's he going to do when the LB's, not to mention DB's are bigger, faster and stronger?

Kirkpatrick was tested two times deep down the field. Robert Lester bailed him out the first time because the receiver got behind Kirkpatrick. The next time the WR caught the deep pass against him. Again, Kirkpartick is physical, but he's not the greatest cover corner. Some of you guys are saying we should draft him and make him a safety. No, I hope Hurney and management have washed their hands of drafting guys to play another position.

Upshaw looked great.. we could use him similar to how the Broncos are using Von Miller in a 4-3 defense.

Brockers looked very good but seemed to fall down a lot.. trying to get lower pad level, but you can tell he is still raw technique.. very high upside once he gets it down. I don't think he will declare.

Chapman looked like a great NT prospect for a team in the 3rd round... constantly double teamed in the run game.. a big reason why LSU could not do anything between the tackles.

Claiborne and Kirkpatrick both looked equal.. nobody threw in their directions and they both did well in run support. Both Top 10 picks.

Really liked what I saw from Reid the safety on LSU.. but didn't see Barron or Lester make any significant plays.

i didn't get to watch the game last night and i haven't watched a lot of tape on kirkpatrick, but one of the criticisms i've heard of him is that while he's physical and strong playing in a zone, he's weak in man coverage.

anyone seeing that in his play?

The things that stood out to me about him was great play on special teams, and one play he slammed a wr at the los on a smoke route. He looked good overall, but like others said he wasn't tested in coverage a great deal. Bama was penetrating all night.

i didnt. one coverage that saban loves is a cover 2/ cover 4 zone. and it seems as tho they stayed in that. he can flip his hips and turn and run staying on the WR hip but really didnt have to yesterday. he is a top 10 pick.
