Carl Nicks is expected to leave NO through FA

Nicks and Evans are key to Brees' success. He is a short QB, and they keep people out of his face. Brees makes mistakes when pressure comes from the middle. I hope Nicks goes to the AFC. Colston will find out how good Brees was when he becomes a pretty average WR for a team like the Jags or Browns.

Robert Meachem and Tracy Porter are also UFA's as well.

Meachem will cost less to keep than Colston, and they have other weapons (Sproles, for example).

So me, I'd keep Nicks.

What will they do? Don't know.

true but he is not the best OL on that team, compared to the best WR on the team. give me the WR.

Not worried about whether he's the best o-lneman on their team.

Only care if he's better than the guy we have playing the position now (and yeah, he is).

colston and the other WRs have always looked better than they are because of brees, the scheme, and their oline that gives him time and protection.

nicks is a huge part of that.

you want cam to be even more lethal, give him time and space to make the most of the weapons he has. it doesn't matter what targets you get him if he doesn't have time to get it to them.

OL is a much higher priority than WR this year.

on the saints, colston can (and has) been pretty easily replaced. nicks....not so much. losing him will be a lot more harmful for their offense.

by that same token, we would benefit a lot more from taking someone like nicks over colston.

Agreed. I won't be surprised if Colston goes elsewhere next year and isn't as dominant.

Typical Saints response:

WHO DAT! RESIGN NICKS, COLSTON AND BREES FOR HOMETOWN DISCOUNTS! THEN WE'LL TRADE CHASE DANIELS TO THE PANTIES FOR A 1ST ROUNDER BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS CAM IS THE NEXT JAMARCUS RUSSELL. THEN WE'LL SIGN DESEAN JACKSON, REGGIE WAYNE, VINCENT JACKSON SO BREESUS WILL HAVE MORE WEAPONS TO PASS TO. HOPEFULLY NEXT YEAR THE NFL DOESN'T CHEAT AND MAKE US PLAY MORE THAN ONE GAME OUTSIDE OF A DOME, JUST GIVE US THE NFC WEST WITH RAMS AND CARDINALS AWAY WITH THE 49ERS AND THE SEAHAWKS AT HOME. WHO DAT! :conehead:

    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
    • Didnt Canales already say starters are playing in the pre season? either way extra reps dont hurt but im not one of those people that think playing in the pre season would have saved Bryce from an awful start.
