Interesting development for draft prospect Dre Kirkpatrick

Is there a reason that he SHOULD be smoking weed before he is recruited for his career that could give him financial security for life even if he only plays for a few years?

I can think of several reasons he SHOULDN'T.

Anybody that can't put down a joint for a few months is either stupid or genuinely addicted.

Who are you trying to convince, you or me?

A police report said Kirkpatrick was a passenger in a truck driven by another former Alabama player, Christopher Airreun Rogers, 25, of Baltimore, Md., who police stopped for driving on the wrong side of the road. A dog detected the presence of drugs, the report said, and an officer found marijuana on the floorboard of the passenger side at Kirkpatrick’s feet.

Rogers told police he purchased the marijuana at a house and was charged with a drug offense.

Kirkpatrick told officers he was in the car when the drugs were purchased by another person, but he didn’t realize at the time what was being bought, the report said.

????????

90% of the people in jail are innocent, if you ask them. ;)

While I don't really care whether or not pot is/should be legal, it doesn't matter. You're on the verge of the biggest moment in your life and you can't follow the rules even for a little bit?

So he's sitting in the front passenger seat of a vehicle when a guy buys some pot, but he didn't know what the guy was buying? LOL

This really isn't that big of a deal, I just think his explanation is funny.

It would be awesome if this caused the guy to drop to us in the 2nd round... we should launch a smear campaign to help make that happen, maybe Nolan Nawrocki can help us out?

maybe we take him in the second round?

Watch Jenkins move ahead of him. I think a team like Dallas will jump all over him at 14--Cincinnati at 17 or even 21.

I still think that we could go OT, especially now.

Who else is there? Reach for Brockers or Still? Coples?

If an OT is available, we could trade down if we decide that Gross/Otah/Bell is what we need.

If I am Kirkpatrick's agent, and he is innocent, I have him take a full panel of drug tests and send the results to every NFL team. Forget the police, etc. That will get worked out. However, if he has drugs in his system, then I would take the "We are gonna hope this blows over" approach.

Trade down is the way to go. No one is clearly a franchise player at 8 or 9. We can get a starter/contributor later in rd 1, and add another 2nd or get a 3rd back to add depth. Of course, this is before the combine when everyone gets overhyped and will be All-Pro year one.

If there are no franchise players at 8 or 9, then why would anybody trade up?
