Charlie Campbell of Walterfootball is reporting from Mobile..

University of Regina (Canada) defensive tackle Akiem Hicks landed on a number of teams' radar at the East-West Shrine Game last week. In speaking to sources this week, a few teams have serious interest in Hicks. Those teams include the Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints and Seattle Seahawks.

And just FWIW Campbell reports that we also interviewed a few players..

Carolina - Troy offensive tackle James Brown, Vanderbilt cornerback Casey Hayward and Texas defensive tackle Kheeston Randall, Appalachian State receiver Brian Quick, Ohio St. receiver Devier Posey, Marshall defensive end Vinny Curry, and CAL offensive linemen Mitchell Shwartz.

i'm thinking we should trade our 2013 2nd rounder for the patriots late 3rd round pick, take quick and try to turn him into a QB. Good idea?

Getting ready to cut another Boone Goon but we do not want to lose the TV revenues from the greater North Appalachia area.

Brown is supposed to be the real deal.

Hayward one doesn't surprise me, but he certainly wasn't the best CB prospect on the field today. Or the second. Hope we don't throw too many eggs in that basket. Like the other interviews.

This is a very solid CB field imo and would be happy with anyone from Jenkins, Hosley, Minnifield, Dennard, Kirkpatrick, Gilmore, etc.

I'm fairly confident in one thing this draft: one of those six guys I just mentioned could be wearing silver black and blue come next season.

btw...which 2 stood out ahead of Hayward in your view?

Janoris Jenkins is far and away the best CB at the Senior Bowl this year. Dwight Bentley of Lou Lafayette out performed Hayward today in my mind. I don't think he's the better prospect overall, but he did play better-and this is just the South talking about. The North would be a whole other can of worms.
