Big Draft Risers

We all know this happens every pre-draft build up and once the teams start getting a closer look at these guys individually, players will rise on draft lists.

By looking at the draft rankings right now, you really aren't getting an accurate portrayal of what may end up happening or the order of being taken by position.

So with this in mind...name some guys maybe projected anywhere from pick 10 to the third that could legitimately rise once the combine and workouts get rolling.

A few guys that seem to be anywhere from 10-32 on some drafts right now:

Dontari Poe (Memphis-DT), Courtney Upshaw (OLB Bama), Mark Barron (S Bama), Fletcher Cox (DT-DE Miss State), Cordy Glenn (OT/OG, UGA)

2nd Rd Potential:

Trumaine Johnson (CB Montana), Brandon Mosley (OT, Auburn), Ryan Steed (CB Furman)

and a guy who I think would be a great later round backup and special teams stud: Miles Burris (OLB SD State)

*Just to note, I think Upshaw, Poe, Cox, Steed, and Trumaine in particular will be very very interesting prospects to watch and see if they can rise over the next few months.

Your turn...go!

Personally I want Poe in a panthers uniform.

He's becoming one of my more favored guys. Overall, I really do think Reiff, Poe, and Upshaw have a great chance of being drafted by us.

I would think a draft with one of those three in the first + one of the CBs (Minnifield, Gilmore, Hosley, or Trumaine, etc) in the second would be very solid.

*double post

Cordy Glenn has helped himself big time this week at the Senior Bowl. He's done well against Coples, Upshaw and Ingram so far.

Definitely. The nice thing about him is that if Otah goes down, he could be a very valuable replacement...but if Otah magically goes through a season uninjured, he can fill voids at guard if someone goes down or we need some fixin

Cordy Glenn is universally being looked at as OG. According to Scott Wright at the senior bowl.. he gets to listen in on all the scouts and GMs.

unfortunately guys like chris rainey and joe adams (both of whom i want later in the draft) are impressing people like crazy out there.

i was hoping that they would be able to slip to the 5th and 6th round, but it ain't going to happen.

Yea, we would need to take one in the 4th round unfortunately.

I know he's Mountaineer but the Quick receiver from Boone is making noise. I think he has already interviewed with the Falcons.

He will stride up the board based on his size and potential alone. But the guy is fast to boot.

Everything I've read said he looked like shite...?

I guarantee that Melvin Ingram is going to climb the draft boards after the Senior Bowl, Combine, and Pro Day. He is one of the most athletic freaks I have ever witnessed. Some of his feats as a 6'2" 275 lb OLB/DL:

-Can throw a football 60+ yards

-Can do a standing backflip

-Can run a fake punt 68 yards for a TD

    • Why would we not be contenders? As long as Bryce plays like he did when he came back, we absolutely can be contenders...that is...   if the defense plays better... which is why adding someone like Ramsey when we have a QB on a rookie deal and can afford it makes sense IMO. No one thought of the Commanders being contenders last year or the Texans the year before and so on and so forth. Top-end QB play, especially for a guy on a rookie deal, changes everything in terms of timelines. Regardless of what this board thinks, I hope the front office is willing to he aggressive in thks window we currently have with a rookie QB deal
    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
