Jayron Hosley is a boss

Rhodes is pretty damn good too forgot about him.

Damn there's a crop to choose from.

It makes me even more interested in grabbing the likes of Reiff, Upshaw, Brockers or Poe in the first.

(edit to add)

I have actually seen Hosley in 1st rounds here and there...damn so beyond Dre, we've got:

Jenkins

Dennard

Gilmore

Rhodes

Minnifield

Hosley

Hayward

Trumaine Johnson

Steed

good lord...and I personally think they are all legit late 1-3rd talent

Hosley and Minnifield and Gilmore should all be the top half of the 2nd round. Hayward is a 4th round pick now. Dennard played himself out of the 1st round as well.. might convert to safety in the NFL.

Haywards speed & quickness issues will be a concern (so maybe I'll take him off the list) and I do agree Dennard didn't look that great...but we're talking one day and there's a crazy amount of time left to still impress. A lack of quickness that leads to forcing more contact is possibly a killer for Hayward though.

I do pretty much agree there's no way we go Vandy CB at pick 2

I agree with you 100%.

I was originally all for definitely taking a CB with the 8/9 pick.....god knows we need a #2. However, given the talent that is there at CB in this draft (1st round talent in most drafts will still be there in the 2nd), I am all for taking a DT/DE or OT in the 1st and then a CB in the 2nd.

Will make the draft very interesting.

Yea, a little bias on my part as well since I went to VT too, but Hosley is definitely a top 5 corner in this draft and could be there at pick 40 -- his stock dropped bc he was hurt a bit this year after a stud Sophomore season.

I do not think this is bias. If you watched him play every game and want him, then I am sold. Ask a Tarheel fan about Coples--most say NO!!

That's why I'm pro D lineman in the first. CBs are abundant and we have a 2nd. :)

The DT and CB pools are pretty deep. The difference being there are two elite CBs in this draft and 0 elite DTs (unless you count Brockers).

Take Jenkins then pick up one of the DTs that drops in the 2nd round. Instantly improve your D.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
