I believe I've had an Epiphany.

Personally, I want a dominant DT, I don't see one this year, I'm on the fence on brockers. CB is another huge huge need. So many holes, only so many talented players and picks. That war room better be ready and done their homework on all the players.

I'm leaning more and more to the Idea that we are going to pick up a CB or OLB in the first. Why? Well we have a DT coming back from injury (Edwards), and he's not a bad one to begin with. He instantly upgrades our line. Also the rookie DT's have experience and will have OTA's this year. They will be improved. DT's take time to develop into solid starters anyway. (unless they are a suh type, duh.)

Relying on Davis to come back healthy from another ACL tear is asinine. Just cut your losses and let the guy go. He's an amazing player, I'm not taking that away, but sometimes you need to know when to move on. Time to give another person a shot.

That leaves the secondary, which we need not just a CB but a FS. So I wouldn't be surprised if we take players for the secondary early on. CB followed by FS in the second finally addressing the OLB spot at 4th round. This could be worked in this order too OLB, CB, FS. Regardless I firmly believe we'll be taking a CB this draft. I wouldn't rule out the picking of an OT/OG this year either.

As far as Free Agency goes, I wouldn't be surprised if we make one huge splash for a player at a defensive position. We lack the pass rush and stopping the run. So a move in FA for a D linemen would be logical.

Either way, I'm glad Rivera is behind the wheel. He's done an amazing job and I hope he continues to do so for years to come.

I agree. If those two are gone and Rieff is on the board.. Wouldn't be surprised if we take Upshaw or Vontaze for that matter.

I would be absolutely shocked if Vontaze Burfict is the pick. I don't think we would pick him in the 2nd round.

I would also agree on not going after a DT this draft. Especially since we just drafted two DT's, which I haven't been overly impressed with. I was much more impressed with Neblett and would like to see more of him, and also Shirley. I would go after the best CB in the draft, then a OLB, unless I was able to find an OLB in FA, like the one we passed on earlier; Curry.

The only thing for me is that, I think we are going to get really good this next season and beyond and will probably not have another high first round pick. We definitely need a big time DT for the future. It is much easier to get quality LBs and CBs later in the draft than to get a good DT late in the draft. Those you usually have to draft really high. So I would go ahead and take the best of who is available for us between Stills, Brockers, and Coples with our first pick. Then focus on other areas in the 2nd and later.

I am hoping that we will be able to swing a trade with a team that has 2 first round picks. They get our 8/9 pick and we get their 2. 2 Firsts would be great no matter where they are. Definitely would be able to get 2 solid starters with that. Having 3 picks in the first 2 rounds would be sweet and help us improve greatly.

Yeah don't see Fua or Mcclain having a very long future in Carolina. Edwards, even if he is good probably doesn't have much left in his career. Not totally sold on Neblett or Shirley. Or Kearse for that matter. In my opinion we have to try and get one of the top DTs in this draft. We have to have a dominate D-line. Having a good line makes your defenses so much better. It all starts up front. If you have a chance you greatly improve it, you have to try.

    • You have gave the board some recent gold via posting. Heres my poor attempt at the truthful play-by-play of the time during post- I pulled out the old laptop to do my shitposting and check on websites. Open the huddle and see this new thread. Open thread and read CRAs post, {inner thinking, oooOOooo this is my lane and I got this}. Make sure not to scroll even to the 2nd post. 23% of current neurons still firing start up and two names appear- Captain and Josh....... about another 43 seconds past "O GOD" it's July 4th weekend and I got medicine to pick up. (If the laptop didn't give away my aging, the meds should...) I need to split, think long panther careers and the hint-  Ryan Kalil was a late 2nd and Pro bowls(even all-pros too) he's got to be OLman and Mikie Minter is among the all-time Panthers career leaders. Drop my post. Scramble to get keys, wallet, and phone. Check my phone- its 17% battery.....fug I now have to raw dog the pickup line and put the phone on charge.... Flip flops, sweat ringed filled hat, and shades acquired. Get in my pos rav4 and think about not running the A/C. Pull out the drive way and reach the 1st stop light, A/C is wide open. I check my shirt to see if there's any new stains on my house shirt, bush off the Bojangles salt that I see.... Neurons re-fire and focus on the comments CRA made that no one would get this....... Dang IT, that means it isn't Ryan Kalil or Mike Minter! CVS is close, but I know its impossible I get back withing 10 minutes to change my post and my phone is on the charger. {Think you monkey, at one point you were a draft nerd}. Reach the CVS line, by some grace its not 5 cars deep during 5 o'clock traffic hell. Im second in line after the car in front of me both turn in, they have to go back and forth to line up while Im a pro for that geometry. Neurons finally reach peak performance as Ive re-thought draft classes. Think obscure and unknown 7th rounders with long careers. Some Sunday/Monday night member berry fell out of my Melon, Will montgomery during the players intros for washington. I thought he out of the league and was shocked to see him still playing around the 2015 years. I do a goggle background check and that refreshed memory. Pick up the meds and enjoy the sweet smelling cool CVS air. Driving back and check in on one of the local bums at the big stop light, wow he's got a new fancy rug. Think about all the old food I got and need to start giving it away and rethink it. Reach home and post a follow up and I know Minter is wrong too, I check the draft history and see Robert Mcclain. Too late, but that would have been my guess....open CRAs link and get "upset" at the DBs name.
    • THANKS my guy! Keeping up with this threads theme, if I view a thread and there's only 20 posts and some time passes. If I see there's one new post and read the name; @Dave Gettleman's Shortsis among the chosen few that I will reopen that thread just to see what you posted.    Thanks again, plus not just a scout, thats scotty mccloughans son?!?!? If not for the deep claws of booze, scotty is among the best talent finders this league has recently had. Last I heard he ran a consulting business. Caden could be one of those who's on a early path to being a GM in the future. I was a big fan of his dad, dam shame about booze demon ruining his career.
