is Peppers gone before/during/after Draft Day

I would say by Friday if at all. I can't imagine any team trading for Peppers on draft day , then worrying about working at an agreeable contract later.

And if Pep's agent does have a potential deal worked out with another team I can't see the trade not already happening because the Panthers were waiting for their suitor's teams draft pick to see if one particular player was still on the board.

Or it could all be in place to be announced in the ten minute window in the first round so no other team knows we have the pick and jumps ahead of us for the player we want. (Yeah right)

This is one of the more logical posts I have read. The only way Pep gets traded on draft day, is if there is a long-term deal already negotiated with a team. I do not think it is smart to keep on the payroll at this huge tag number, and the Panthers/Hurney do not want him on the roster at that number. In fact, Hurney only released a statement saying that he thinks Peppers will be playing as a Panther next season, because he wants to light a fire under Peppers ass.

None of the above, he will be a Panther this coming year... Panthers want 2 1st round picks for him and they're not going to get that (which they've known all along).

I suspect they will keep him this year while they develop/acquire more talent on the DL and then trade him next year for a 1st round pick, so they can package their 2 1st round picks and move way up in the draft to land one of the nice QB prospects expected to come out.

    • Doubling tripling and quadrupling down on this subject in defense of the pick is reminiscent of a certain mindset that has overtaken the political world. This conversation will become less contentious and dragged out to the point of becoming a dead beaten horse if rational minds can simply agree that we made a mistake missed on a potential franchise center and we will learn from it. All this coping is unnecessary.
    • Here in lies the rub that the supporting posters continue to ignore. He wasn’t a 2nd round pick in the 2025 class, especially with an ACL tear. It was a dumb pick for any GM who looks ahead to determine values. C and CB were much better values than an injured RB in 2024. If a RB isn’t even playing much in 2024, you have to compare him to 2025. We’re beating a dead horse but only because the defense of the pick is almost comical at this point. We’ve made a ton of poo picks and moves/non trades while Morgan was GM and the assistant GM. It happens, we don’t have to jump through hoops to act like we just had some really bad luck. The 2025 draft class is unknown so far but damn it felt way better afterwards for the first time in a long time. Embrace the potential and stop stamping guaranteed on the box of poo of the 2018-2024 drafts. We are were we aware because of them and 2025 has to hit so we can get past the 7 win max in 7 year hurdle. Also, “flashed his talent” isn’t 9 carries for 22 yards. His one reception for 18 yards isn’t a flash with 11 other touches for 27 yards. He hasn’t proven anything. We have no idea if he’ll contribute in 2026.
    • Oh for those tired of the Mannings I have bad news, Peytons son Marshal already has college teams after him and he isn't even in HS until this fall...   I'd wager we have two Mannings in the NFL in 2030
