Pre-everything Mock

I was bored so I decided to take a hack at a dream offseason. Thoughts?

Draft:

Round 1: Michael Brockers DT

Brockers may be a raw prospect but there is just too much upside. He does 3 things well that we need out of a DT. 1) He's great at stuffing the run. 2) Can occupy multiple blockers which would free up others. 3) Push the pocket. He seems to be a humble and motivated player so I can see him becoming a star for us.

Round 2: Vinny Curry DE

Curry is an explosive pass rusher which is what we need in the league to be effective. He is also not as bad a run stopper as mentioned. Has the versatility to play DE and OLB. He is consistent, relentless, and has the potential to grow into an above average starter.

TRADE- Round 3: Bruce Irvin OLB

Pass rush, pass rush, pass rush!! Getting to the QB is what Irvin does best. Let him loose on passing downs and watch him wreak havoc. He is still very raw but he can start off as a pass rush specialist while he works on his run support and pass coverage.

Round 4: Audie Cole LB

Cole is a tough and versatile LB. What I like most about him is his pass coverage. He can match up with some of the TE's in our division. Cole is also good in run support and his pass rush is a work in progress. Nevertheless, he is quality depth.

Round 5: Andrew Datko OT

Datko has slipped on some boards due to his injuries. That shouldn't stop us from taking a chance on him. He can play LT and RT equally well. We have enough guards. We need someone who will be able to backup Gross or Otah and Datko can be our guy.

Round 6: Cliff Harris CB

Yes I know he is a problem child. But, what player are you going to get in the 6th with his potential. He is a threat on special teams and we need that badly. Let him start as a returner and prove he can keep his head straight enough to battle for a starting position.

Round 7: Drew Butler P

Baker is taking up cap space and hasn't played up to his pay. Time to cut him loose and let Butler take over.

Free Agents:

Brandon Carr- Young stud to pair with Gamble. Would be a top CB duo that can make our secondary very hard to pass on.

Michael Griffin- A bit inconsistent but i'm a believer in our new DBs coach. Griffin has probowl ability and can solidify our secondary.

how did we get the third rounder?

Traded for 2013 2nd round pick. I was thinking with our offense picking up where it left off plus our revamped D we would be a legitimate playoff team. That in combination with Irvin's potential is a good deal for a future late 2nd.

I don't like trading away future picks. But, if Irvin can pickup his pass coverage he can be our version of Von Miller.

I agree on Carr getting a huge contract. We'll probably go for a mid tier CB. Carr would totally be worth it though. He is young enough to be one of our core players and a great CB. Just restructure some deals and make a big move.

This is a great mock for us, but I think Datko will be gone before the 5th. Probably won't fall out of the 3rd.

I do not think so either. Not sure OLB was properly addressed. We need a WLB.

Hey, but you did your research and have your reasons. Thanks for sharing.
