Draft day headache?

Not taking it personally at all...

Every year people say our defense is fine and the offense needs help. Then during the season the offense is fine but the defense struggles. You never know what unit will struggle, what unit will have injuries you just have to have to take the best players you can at each position in the draft.

Nobody has even attempted to argue in this entire thread that Brockers or Coples are better prospects than Richardson because you cant.

We have Fua, McLain, Edwards, Neblett at DT all coming back. You have invested just as much there as any position based on last years draft. Who is sitting behind Deangelo and Stewart? Not too mention that Stewart may be gone or franchised coming up..

Because, like you said, there's not much of an argument. If that's what you're looking for, then why even make the thread? I assumed that the question was, if TR is there, do you take him (BPA), or BPA based on need. In that scenario, I go BPA on DL or OL.

Although I do agree with you on the fact that the DL has a lot of potential there. I am interested to see how Fua and McClain develop after an actual offseason and a year of experience. However, at the same time, we don't know how the FO and Coach Rivera feel about Fua and McClain outside of a couple reports. If they don't feel like they can get it done then you cut your losses and try to keep working on it. We did that last year when we drafted Cam when we already had Clausen, Pike, and Moore.

Brockers could end up being a bust and Richardson could end up being AP. Don't act like you know whoever we pick will be a great defensive player. That draft is still very much a crap shoot. Richardson is definitely a better prospect than either Brockers or Coples dont kid yourself.

For those arguing that Richardson wont help this year, i got news for you. Neither will Brockers or Coples.

Richardson could end up being like Eric Shelton, Reggie Bush, Donald Brown, Laurence Maroney, etc. Why do you act like Richardson will be the next great NFL running back? Richardson could end up being a bust, and brockers could be the next Kevin Williams or Suh. Couples could be the next Jared Allen or Mario Williams. We don't know if any of them will, you can't know richardson will be a success.

Richardson is by far the best running back to come out of college in a long long time. The only other running back on his level coming out is Adrian Peterson. That is a fact.

His names is Coples, not Couples. And the difference between he, and Richardson, Allen and Williams is quite simple. Coples is lazy. I watched every single he played in at Carolina. He took almost every play off. He is slow and clumsy. Not the type of player we need at all.

With that said, Richardson also is not what we need either. But what you said sounded very uneducated so I had to give you some facts.

Well it just depends. Does Hurmey draft a Ryan Kalil or Armant Edwards with the pick.

I don't see how you can trade Stewart. Based on what we are running, Cam/Chud need him.

All that read option stuff isn't done w/ DWill (Cam wants that). That is Stewarts niche. He also provides the pass protection and recieving.

Based on the offense we are running, losing Stewart is a big blow. Would hurt to lose him right now without a RB who can do everything he does.

Offense gets worse. What is the 2nd rounder going to do?

OOOOO you really got me for spelling Coples wrong, I am really ashamed. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Cam have a lot of knocks about his character and level of commitment to the game? And if Coples took almost every play off and still had 7.5 sacks, Ill take it. I also recall people saying that Reggie Bush was the best prospect ever to come out of college.

Gene Wojciechowski said:

But from a pure football standpoint, Bush was the best college player on the draft board. Forget the board; he was the best college player on the face of the Earth.

Reggie Bush was also given a scouts grade of 99, the same as Andrew Luck had this year. Reggie Bush was rated higher than AP and Richardson, yet he still turned out to be a mediocre RB.

My thoughts are RR knows we have many holes on defense it's possible the first rounds goes as follows

1st I can see us trading down not once but twice getting more draft picks then we pick

Brockers- he could slid most teams don't have him as the top DT more like 3rd

Jenkins- it would great

Kirkpatrick- good possibilty

Best DT

2nd

If we go cb in the first Then we go DT in the 2nd

If we go DL in the first then we go Olb in the 2nd

3rd fill the gaps with best player

    • Brother, I don't want to drop the amount of rage I have about BY and the fuging Pickett signing....when murray was free, tua was free, lance was about the same cost. But you know during practice when other teammates see and hear the passing for any of them compared to BY, he may cry right then.... It does feel like Dan and Tillis were told "make BY work, by any means". You recall the first plan was to drop 163 million on OGs to protect the little fellow.......then drafting WRs and they even signed his buddy WR this FA period..... I just go back to Dan Morgan wanting instill competition throughout the roster and T-H-A-T is your QB room ??? bloody hell, what a joke and disrespect to the whole roster outside that group....
    • Id drop this in here- I fully believe nearly ALLL the Tmac hate leading up to the draft came from the Panthers..... There was plenty and it was believable, cause many did just that. There was huge questions and about 85% of the huddle took the cheese hate.  I do have this too- Banks has a broken feet and a history of feet/ankle issues. If he didn't, 19 would have been fair landing spot. Of course, but Prince spoke highly of him in a Twitter post....former teammates and all, but he still made the post and I haven't seen other players prince did so for.... Maybe the 51st on banks, but maaaaaannnn big men with broken feet broken its feels like it never ends well. I mean after brain, spine, I think Feet are the career killer leader.  Draft DL feels weak in every way.    Last morsel- there's a weak rumor of Panthers trading for DT Payne out on the vine....(his price I feel kills it, but new contract solves that for trades)....
    • If we go all in and sell out with Bryce as our QB, it will even more entrench the idea that Tepper is at minimum running the QB room for me. Now i could be wrong and Dan really is that confident in Bryce all by himself, but nothing this team has done in the past 3 offseasons leads me to believe that there hasnt been some noise from big T. He's admitted that he walks through the office making his opinion known. To me, Bryce's output has just not generated that kind of confidence that we are playoff worthy other than against the Rams. Against the SB champs, just damn.
