Matthias' Mock (Fast Take)

You can start by cutting that 3 million dollar bum Mare and replace him with any ole scrub rookie free agent bum.

I wanted to cut him yesteryear, but I wonder would that be more costly than keeping him on the roster? Would there be any kind of cap hit, because I believe he signed a four year deal?

I'd chip in my part.

I'm sure you're being sarcastic, but I'll post this for the people that don't understand the NFL salary cap. The problem is we're almost $10 million over the cap already so adding another million to that, and then going out and having to find a new kicker really isn't an option unless players that got ridiculous FA contracts like CJ and DeAngelo are willing to restructure already (NOT likely). In my opinion (and I'm by no means a cap expert) I think the most likely restructures are obviously TD (who will be cut to avoid the $8 mil roster bonus then resigned to an incentive deal), and Travelle Wharton (if he's not outright released). As for extensions the likely candidates are Smitty, Jordan Gross, and possibly Chris Gamble (though it's going to be hard to decrease his cap number when he just had maybe his best season coverage wise).

    • That makes me wonder, how many starting tackles in the NFL and/or elite tackles have short arms? I feel like there’s probably lots of tackles that end up being drafted in later rounds because they had short arms or didn’t have the physical tools.     also why not draft a tackle in the later rounds that we could move to guard or center if they fail, instead of drafting a center? If we draft a center we know they aren’t going to play tackle but if you draft a tackle they could end up playing any of the 3 positions, look at BC for example. It feels like it’s a better decision to draft a tackle in later rounds than a center.
    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
