What the hell is with the cap space?

Ok guys, I'm so confused in this topics. There have been atleast 10 different articles that have all declared we have different cap space. Although all have us on a tight budget but some have us as at almost 10 mill under the cap. While some have us at at almost 10 over. Idk how there can be that big a difference. I know it's hard to judge but surely to god somebody's has a clue. I'm starting to think this forum has more knowledge than reporters and beat writers and sports networks ;).

It's kind of a big deal ya know. It might decide if we could pursue any free agents or it could be that we have to restructure and cut like hell just to sign our new draftees. And as a fan I kind of wanna know. Anybody got some knowledge to drop

I wouldn't worry about it. Zing.

Exactly. We will somehow get under the cap without too much pain, and we will then sign the players the FO feels are worthy. They won't be the 5 star free agents that most fans want, but like it or not, it is not the team's philosophy to sign the big names no matter what the cap situation.

Look for the Panthers to do little early on in FA. Once the dust settles, they will pick a player here and there to fit the perceived needs.

Well the league hasn't announced what the cap is for next year. Any number you see is not only guessing what our exact cap hit is, but what the actual cap is.

You haven't seen any because it wasn't expected to go up any at all, because the NFL sent teams a memo explaining that the Cap wouldn't go up for the 2012 season back in October.

Now with the new reports coming out, it might go up to 125.

I just hope we bring back John kasay who is a free agent. I know he is on his last leg inthe NFL, but he is a class act and under pressure is automatic. He is still better than Mare and would not break the bank. Let him retire a Panther !

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
