Smitty is indeed a great WR.

And I agree about the search thing.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. Smitty has been arguably the best receiver in the game most of his career. His pupils have identified him as such most of his career. He's one of the best, and will make a legitimate run for the Hall. It's okay to admit that without clinging on to a false notion of supposed "realism."

Unless something drastically changes....Smitty won't make a legit run at the HOF. Not when he will be up against so many in this passing era.

HOF talent....no doubt though.

He'll need to have multiple years like his latest (very real possibility now that the Panthers have a viable QB) to be in contention.

It's sad too. Imagine if he had a HOF QB throwing to him his entire career.

Too many WRs are going jump him statistically in the near future.

I think for him to make a run he will need playoff runs (multiple) with big stats...... if he could put up big postseason number he could go down as one of the best postseason WRs of all time (he has a good start) to go on top of his regular season stuff.
