I am not a big Jake fan and would love a better QB, but what I don't understand is the full out Jake haters that want him gone. Please name me one QB that the Panthers could sign or trade for today that is better than Jake? We need to be happy that we even have him, we could have Travaris Jackson, Matt Schaub, Culpepper or Russel as our starters. Also there is Steve Smith and Jon Beason have always had his back, they know they could have it much worse.

This is another dumb fallacy. Who is saying in this thread that we should trade Jake for someone like Daunte Culpepper? We're questioning why he got the contract that he did.

I have never complained about us not spending enough money. The only gripes I've had with the cap in the past have been how we've been strangled to death by Peppers this season because of dumb moves by Hurney in the past that have allowed it to get into the situation we're currently in.

As long as they're able to sign players to improve the team, I don't care how much money they spend.

What dumb moves has Hurney made that has gotten us into this situation? Please enlighten me. Every off-season the Panthers have tried to get Peppers a new contract, he pretty much just gave us the finger.

I will not spend another dollar on this sorry team and I am taking as many with me as I can. Obviously, my little $500 a year I spend won't even touch the franchise, but it's a start. If the fans continue to support this team financially, they will continue to make crap decisions. Anyone who thinks this is a smart move is an idiot; PLAIN AND SIMPLE.

Best of luck Panthers. I've supported you from day 1, but my days are over. I would say see you in the playoff's, but you won't be there.

Bye. Won't miss you.

Jeez, did they fire your mom or something?

Businesses are "cutting the fat", and don't tell me the folks who were laid off were essential personnel. Cuz it's just not possible that a billion dollar organization had a few employees doing very little but sucking on the company teet.

I wouldn't have a problem with it if they weren't so obviously NOT cutting the fat by resigning the fat to a $40 million deal over 5 years with $20 million in guaranteed money.

When you leave can you take LBF with you?

You can't defend it, so you use a fallacy to put words in my mouth that I didn't say. Hilarious!!!!

nothing to defend. you're reaching and trying to find some other reason to complain about something you don't like happened. what the panthers are doing...using their cap space in spite of layoffs that most teams have had to do...is not a problem. that money is/was going to be spent somewhere ON THE TEAM.

have a problem with this then you should have a problem with any player getting multi million dollar contracts....especially rookies that are getting ready to have much bigger contracts than this handed to them who haven't proven anything yet.

you using this as a basis for hating the jake contract is funny.

i would take it more seriously if you extended it throughout the whole of the NFL.

What should the Panthers have done Mr Know it All? A: Keep the current contract at 11 mil this year, B: restructure or C: cut him for who? STFU!
give all that money to the families of people laid off by the panthers. keep up.

Easy there.

The Panthers could have done a couple of different things. They could have signed him to 3 years instead of 5. Given less money guarenteed or just honored this contract and let Jake walk at the end of the year.

    • These arguments are getting more and more disingenuous from both the pro and anti Bryce crowd. Bryce looked very good for stretches down the final 8 games. He finally showed glimpses of the guy that was projected as a top QB pick in the draft. Bryce also didn't look like a top 10 NFL QB.  I think we are so far removed from Prime Cam that we forget what an elite QB looks like. I could tell that when people were losing their minds and simping for Sam Darnold. This season needs to finally showcase Bryce as a franchise talent. If that doesn't happen, it's time to pivot. There are very few recent examples of QB's struggling or being a mixed bag through the first three seasons of starting and then suddenly becoming frachise caliber players.
    • See that's the thing what I saw in game 2 was so embarrassing id rather they could just forfeit
    • Are you arguing that his height deficiencies and footwork within the pocket have not been a present issue clearly seen on his game tape particularly in the games he struggled in? Because that's simply denying what everyone in this fanbase who have watched the games have seen. It's interesting how hardline BY fans here quickly and effortlessly pivot from whailing about being victimized to becoming the aggressor and hurling out allegations of bias and hatred. And at the end of the day while Bryce Young clearly improved significantly from the first two games of the season the reality of the situation is he still finished 42nd in yards per pass attempt behind Mac Jones and tied with Caleb Williams and 38th in passing yards per game behind the likes of Gardner Minshew Aidan O'Connell Drake Maye and Will Levis. Furthermore it took Bryce Young 23 games to surpass Panthers legend Kyle Allen's 13 games worth of passing yardage in 2019. So if your argument is he became a head and shoulders better passer over the course of the second half of the season the reality is we're still waiting to see that growth this season. And there is nothing controversial or vitriolic about saying so from the mind of a rational observer.
