LG: Byron Bell

I'm sure this will change by the end of training camp. Garry Williams and Geoff Hangartner are backups. I'm sure Bell will be in the mix for either starting G spots. We could also address this area in FA or the draft.

Hate to see Wharton go, he was a class act and a good player. However, I do think the OL will be upgraded over the next few seasons to provide better protection for Cam and guess we had to start somewhere. The cap space was needed also.

The big picture: Wharton was our backup LT.

I hope Hangartner is not the next starter at LG, although he makes more sense there than at RG.

We signed Garry Williams to a 2 year contract several weeks ago.

By the way, why is everyone assuming Wharton was offered an extension or opportunity to restructure? From what I saw, he was not good.

Seriously doubt we will pick DeCastro @ #9. If we trade back, he could be an option but the general rule is you can find quality G in the later rounds of the draft and the Panthers are not known for using high picks on G's.
