Love to look at local newspaper links.

Here is a rational statement.

Of course there are differeing opinions.

Should be interesting at next years SB.

Don't blame the NFL or commissioner Roger Goodell for the sanctions levied against the New Orleans Saints today. Blame Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis, Gregg Williams and Joe Vitt. ......Their cavalier attitudes and carelessness left the league with no recourse and has caused irreparable short- and long-term damage to the organization.

Yea this is one of those cases where the guilty party knew exactly what they were doing was wrong and kept doing it. So you can argue all day whether or not the punishment is severe enough or not but at the end of the day its the Saints organizations and coaches fault.

The NFL is sending a harsh message to serve notice to the rest of the league. Sometimes, in business and in life, you have to set a new precedent to prevent future abuse of the system. They can call it unfair all they want; they just set a new bar for how these actions will be dealt with.

Essentially, the Saints told Goodell: "It's our universe" and to go away.

Payton and the Saints now will pay the price for this hubris.

The same arrogance which helped propel Payton and the Saints to unprecedented heights on the field the past six years helped undercut them off of it. They became corrupted by their own perceived omnipotence, and their greatest strength became their most debilitating weakness.

"A combination of elements made this matter particularly unusual and egregious," Goodell said in a damning report released by the league Wednesday. "When there is targeting of players for injury and cash rewards over a three-year period, the involvement of the coaching staff, and three years of denials and willful disrespect of the rules, a strong and lasting message must be sent that such conduct is totally unacceptable and has no place in the game."

But the cover-up by the team's front office disrespected Goodell and his seat of power. From the outset of the investigation, the Saints acted with blatant disregard for the NFL office.

The investigation also exposed one of the best-kept secrets of Payton's tenure: His dysfunctional relationship with Williams. The two maintained a professional working relationship, but Payton never trusted his defensive coordinator. That was clear in the NFL report, which said one of Vitt's primary roles "was to monitor the activity of Coach Williams. This was based on the direction of Coach Payton, who apparently had less than full confidence in Coach Williams."

If the reports are true that the Saints' front office tried to paint Williams as a rogue vigilante to the league office during the investigation, you can rest assured Williams did likewise to them behind closed doors.

      Why does Bryce get the blame?

      Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.

      Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.

      I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
