Panthers To Free Up $5.7 Million In Cap Space June 1St

That's when Travelle Wharton's cap hit finally comes off the books. By that time pretty much every free agent worth a damn will be off the market though.

Hopefully, the Panthers have already worked out deals with a few quality free agents and are just waiting for this move to finalize until they can push through the paperwork and officially announce that they are signed. Also, this means it's much more likely that we'll be able to re-sign Shockey (not resign for you grammar nazis).

I'll be watching that date (and maybe the following few days after) specifically to see if our FO has any tricks left up their sleeves. I guess we'll see what happens...

Yep, hopefully we've told Shock to hold tight until then. Too bad we missed out on Garay but, at least we got Applewhite back. Really by that time, after the draft, even if the FA market is thin, I don't think we'll have too many needs as a team.

I don't think any "quality" free agents are gonna wait all the way until June to be paid.

if your best offer is from a team that needs to wait a bit until they have the cap space I don't see why you wouldn't take that. the base salary doesn't get paid out until the regular season starts anyway and that's the biggest chunk of a contract normally.

here read this

some of the most sought out players in the entire free agent market signed with the Bucs knowing they'd have to wait to see any money at all

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
