This Is A Big Year For Rivera (Playoffs Or Bust)

Of the 3 coaches prior to Rivera, the 2 successful coaches (Capers and Fox) both made the playoffs in their 2nd years.

I am very happy with Rivera thus far, but I expect the playoffs this year. Smitty has guaranteed it...

And as a die-hard fan and PSL owner, it has been long enough. 3 long years w/o the playoffs...

I was so pumped in 2008- only to be subjected to one of the most humiliating playoff losses of all time.

I took it in stride due to the great success of 2003 and 2005, but the time has come to start reclimbing the mountain.

We have the OROY in Newton and a lot of offensive playmakers. Rivera's calling card has been defense.

He has a full draft and off-season to put his stamp on the defense. No more excuses- the playoffs are expected!!

I mean.... I disagree. If we don't make the playoffs, I wouldn't say bust. I sure hope that we do, and believe that we have a chance. But if Rivera doesn't make the playoffs a year after possessing the worst team in the league, and then a year after having the #9 in a tough division, I wouldn't say it was a bust or failure of a season.

I would be happy with a winning season. If that is god enough for a playoff spot, then great. If we go 10-6 like Tampa did 2 years ago and still not make the playoffs, I can't say we will be a bust. I would just hope that we are still in the race the last game of the season instead of out of it by the bye week,

Any improvement, even a 7-9 season, and RR won't be a bust. Given, I think we'll do a lot better than that, hopefully double digit wins and playoffs, but I think as long as we're heading in the right direction Rivera will be our coach for a long while.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
