Michael Brockers!

IMO you can't have enough talent at the DE or WR positions (look at Packers n Giants). Our DT position def needs to be addressed I agree, i just don't believe that one of the DT's in the draft are an immediate upgrade (They aren't Sue) that maybe a DE or CB can be for us. I just don't want us to waste a great pick on another project DT (Which they will be) when we did that last year in McClaine/Fua.

P.S. i think any Notre Dame player is a bust in the NFL. So i would say a big HELL NAH! to Floyd or any WR in the first 2rounds maybe even 3. Like i said 3rd round and later on a WR i wouldn't mind that at all. A mid to late rounder would give us insurance not this season but maybe next season if Gettis doesn't pan out to what people think he is going to be. Lafell will keep growing as a WR and be a big threat for us next year, so I'm not worried about him he's a beast with very good hands in traffic.

Then this is where we disagree the most. I think Cox is a special talent. He has better numbers then Farily and Dareus coming out of College and was a 3 year starter in the SEC. For as big as he is he has speed and special pass rush ability from the inside and out. He upgrades the Dline day 1.

I do like Fletcher Cox. Watching some of his games at Miss. St. I saw him getting completely blown out when defenders would double team him and I didn't like to see that. The guy is extremely quick but weighing in a lil under 300 makes me suspicious. I would take him over Brockers tho. To be honest as long as we go D the first 2-3 rounds I trust Riveras judgement.

We have been watching 2 different game tape. He stood up well to the double team in games I've seen.

There is so much talent at DT's in this draft, trading back and still ending up with one is our best bet if Claiborne is gone. Cox will most likely slip into the upper teens or early twenties, and his motor and heart is the best out of the DT class. Picking up an extra 2nd to move back about 10 spots is a realistic option.

You guys realize Cox JUST turned 21 years old, right? He can and will certainly add on weight (good weight).

Fletcher's primary issues from the videos I've seen of him are correctable; he'll sometimes stand immediately up and instead of using his hands, throws his body. But that can certainly be fixed. He has great upside.

Brockers is 19 and is only 1pt behind Cox in the ESPN scouts rankings. That is very special for such a young guy to be playing more mature players and do it at such a high level, rare. He is the definition of upside.

Brockers is 21!!! He was born the same year as Cox. In fact Cox is only older then Brockers by 8 days.

I have been on the Cox bandwagon for a while now.. however, I must say.. after watching Brockers against Alabama.. he was double teamed on literally 99% of the plays. The only plays he wasn't doubled was when they ran to the opposite side.. knowing Brockers would not be a part of that play.

Cox was not double teamed that frequently.. I don't think anyone in the NFL was double teamed that frequently. That makes me think that Brockers may be a lot better than his stats indicate. And his stats weren't too shabby.

    • I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
    • Easy to understand Pickett, if this is anywhere close to on point. Canales wants to get as close to Bryce as he can- get the pace and timing in the throws as close a he can to Bryce. So the other players don’t have to adjust so much, to a new guy.       If Cam was the 1, he would look for a rocket arm.  But Bryce is the 1. Look for limited in the same way.  Low velocity, plenty of air under it, feels just like home when Picket comes in. And you have the guys on the second team not having such a radical adjustment (if they have to play) like with Dalton to Bryce.    Enter Grier. I guess we will collect those types.
    • Best part is if we draft him, we can also use him as our fourth and one QB sneaker
