"That’s the word from Giants owner John Mara, a Competition Committee member who says the conversations have already started about potentially taking the play that has started every football game in history out of the league for good."

And some of you LoL'd when i said tackling would one day be banned from the sport... Its headed that way people, its headed that way. Maybe a new league where real football is played is in order..

Oh and i fuging hate John stinking Mara!

The problem with Rugby, and other violent sports is that their base are in other countries, or are a smal secular sport. In other countries where citezins take responsibility for themselves, officials kind of accept that fact and so do the players. The players know it's a rough sport and therefore they are taking the risk.

This is NOT a western concept.

The western concept is officials, wouldnt allow it to happen if it were too dangerous. The concept is the officials are responsibile for those getting injured and it is their responsiblity to cater to players who 'didn't know' how rough it was, even after multiple years of playing.

This is sue-happy America, no one is responsible for their decisions. Talk to a foreign rugby player about roughness, injuries and the responsibility of the league and then talk to an American football player or Giants owner and the worldviews on sports will be extremeley different.

I am betting if we could hear all the conversations that go on in those meetings, we would be pretty disgusted.

I wouldn't be so sure kickoffs will be gone any time too soon, but the NFL will have to come up with a way to protect itself legally from former players.
