Yes, it sure does if you drive a lot.

I have a friend that travels a lot for his business. He traded in his Audi SUV for a Toyota Prius, and it literally pays for itself, and still saves him money.

Thus the "pretty much".

I get 43 to 55 miles per gallon so the price at the pump has not hurt me yet. I bought a mini van because I thought I would need the room with a small family but traded it in for a Prius. The Prius has a TON of room on the inside and I am really happy with the move I made.

If your truck is paid off, then its probably not worth it to get another one, Unless you are driving thousands of miles a month. Just drive it till it falls apart, and then get a more fuel efficient vehicle.

Fortunately, when I bought a truck a few years ago, I bought a ranger, so the gas mileage is tolerable.

Depends on what you're trading for really. When I bought my Civic Hybrid I had a Jeep Cherokee that was completely paid off. I drove 50 miles round trip to work every day and used a tank of gas each week ($70), so $280/mo. minimum.

When I got the Civic, I was spending about $40 every two weeks to fill up, or around $80/mo.

My monthly payment on the car is $202/mo, so I was basically breaking even.

When gas dipped in cost, I was coming out a bit in the negative each month, but it was worth it considering I no longer had to worry about my car not starting once a month.

Since moving back to Charlotte I only drive 2 miles to work, so now I'm definitely coming out way in the negative and am considering selling the car and going back to the Jeep.

In most instances you are correct though. You have to go from a very inefficient vehicle to a super efficient vehicle, and most people do not do that.

The Prius is definitely very roomy inside. My girlfriend has one and I love it.

A guy I worked with in Maryland had converted his to a plug in model and got 150mpg. I'd love to do that to hers, but I can't do it myself. If you do it yourself the cost isn't unreasonable, but its pricey to have someone do it for you. That guy was an electrical engineer so he had the know-how to do it himself.

What are we talking about when you say pricey? 150mpg would be awesome and the place I live has an electric plug station.

I am 6-4 and 250 lbs. I sat in a prius, and it ain't roomy. :)

I'm 6'3" and find it roomy for the size of the car - It is by no means an SUV but to me it was pretty damn roomy given the car's size. More roomy than a lot of cars I think.

I have an '09 Tahoe LTZ and the highway mileage isn't bad at about 20 because it has the Active Fuel Management engine which shuts down cylinders. Around town it's closer to 14 or so, but mileage has never been a concern. I live in VA so I'm paying $.20 a gallon less than NC, but it still runs me $65-70 to fill up.

My issue is I'm 6'6" @ 270 and I've owned 2 Tahoes and an Expedition because they're comfortable, easy to get in and out of and with my 2 dogs, I can go anywhere in it. I'd love to own a nice, sporty type car, but 90% of them are difficult just to get and out of. My wife has an Infinity G and it is the most uncomfortable car I've ever driven- I hate it. Looks good but it is simply not good for a tall person. She used to have a Lexus GS and it had plenty of room for me to move around.

But her cars are not the point- I feel as though I'm stuck just because I need something to fit me.

I think he spent around $7,000 to convert his.

He told me you can get the battery kits for less now, but he never said how much.

I found a few places that sell/install them, but it looks like its over $10,000 to have someone install everything for you (parts included).

      100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
