I don't think it is a moot point. It's a judgment of the skill he possesses.

He would be taken ahead of Claiborne sans character concerns. He is far more talented than Claiborne.

It is a moot point, because his skill is not why he is ranked where he is, but I think the topic is interesting when comparing CB types. I still think he would be #2 and not #4. Mike Lombardi says Jax likes Gilmore more than Claiborne. Another NFL expert, last week on NFL Network, (can't recall who it was--Casserly or Billick, maybe?) explained that the scheme is very important in determining what kind of CB you want. I knew that, but never clearly understood why. He explained that some teams want CBs who are better in coverage early in routes while others want CBs who cover best later in routes. Never heard it explained like that, and I never considered it.

Yeah, they said Revis is an example of a guy that is both, Asomugha is an early route guy, and Gilmore is the coveted late route guy in this draft.

He'd be the second best CB, as he is right now.

He has legit character concerns and has recently shown that he isn't learning from his past mistakes as quickly as he should.

IMO, too much talent not to roll the dice on in the second if he's still there.

If he is available in the 2nd and we went DL in the 1st round, we'd be idiots not to take him.

Some guy by the name of Cam Newton left Florida. "Florida!!!!!!!!" Then he proceeded to go to a small junior college, followed by a National Championship and a Heisman Trophy session at Auburn. Shame he never worked out in the NFL... oh, wait.
