Patriots Contacted Panthers About #9 Pick

I don't prefer to move down that far. But we would likely be getting another 1st next year and possibly a second or third this year.

Additionally, lots of guys with plenty of talent still available there that fit our needs:

Worthy, Stephen Hill, Zach Brown, Floyd?, Jenkins, etc. Could possibly get more than one of those guys with two picks so close together.

If we got both their firsts and a late second, definitely do it.

We need depth and starters. Having 4 picks in the first 60 picks of the draft will do that. We can land ourselves Curry or Chandler Jones. Brockers/Still/Worthy. Jenkins/another of those later CBs. Then either an OLB/Oline depth/WR.

If it happens I will be glad to buy you a beer but my question is who do they want that bad?

Melvin Ingram. They just lost Mark Anderson to the Bills. Ingram is the perfect fit for them. Aside from being able to play multiple positions (but will play OLB at NE) the dude is just a naturally talented football player. He's known as a pass rush specialist, but hes naturally good at all aspects at football, even running and throwing it.

    • I agree with this. Florida is going to be tough to beat. But they can’t keep that group together much longer so the hurricanes window might open a little wider.  My problem is the series should have looked the way it did in games 4 and 5. From the second period of game 1 thru 3 were an abysmal effort and the players just looked defeated. I was very disappointed in the overall effort until games 4 and 5. I think it’s very fair to ask if Rod is the right man for the job right now. If they’d gotten swept again and they lost game 4 like 5-0, id say he might need to go. But I think the team bounced back enough to give him another year with the front office going all in to bolster the roster. Failure to reach the finals with a full push to build the roster to win now, Rod goes next offseason, and the team focuses on retooling around their younger players.
    • Look very carefully at the jersey numbers and let it sink in.
    • The team had a great season all things considered and definitely overachieved.  I don't think many of us had our expectation level set at deep playoff run after the 2nd Rantanen trade. With the current league format, someone has to come out of the Metropolitan division.  Look at the teams we have to climb over to get to the ECF.  It's not exactly a division that's full of contenders.  Smack around the Islanders and the Devils and now you're in the ECF against the survivor from the better division.
