Thomas Davis To Safety

Has-Been

Recommended Posts

Ok, I'll be the first in this thread to say this isn't TOTALLY ridiculous. Could we switch out a safety for TD on running downs and play a sort of hybrid 4-4 defense? Maybe. But I'm envisioning that against two back, two TE, one WR formations, not on normal downs.

No... just no....

the OP is a troll. He wasn't talking about TD being a 4th Linebacker with the in-the-box safety duties, he was talking about TD being a 4-3 or 3-4 Safety purely for trolling purposes.

And yes, don't be surprised to see Rivera use some 4-4 Odd sets that made him famous in Chicago.

4-4 would mean no Martin on the field? Would love that.

What did Davis have to do with whether or not we signed a safety?

And Reggie Smith is a solid safety and will start over Martin. He was going to start for San Francisco until he got injured and by the time he recovered, the defense was playing so well that there wasn't any reason for change.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't see how the OP is trolling. Dumb question/thought maybe, but I don't really get the trolling vibe from him.

It's the MO. Create a new ID just to create an ignorant thread. We've seen it before, and not that long ago.

(hence, why people are asking for the 100 post count rule again)

There is literally no way that the coaching staff would do this....buuutttt playing safety would keep a lot of trash off of his legs and would require a bit less backpedal in coverage. I would rather watch him get burned every game that watch Sherrod run backwards 65 years trying to tackle a 40 year old receiver.

Hey regulars - I may be guilty of having a bad idea - I may be guilty of not posting 100 threads -But I'm not guilty of trolling - or intentially stirring the pot - or not being an avid panther fan.

The idea is that of scheme - or ocassional coverage - given that TD could be our best blitzer when healthy - but prior to last year's injury he was faster than the other backers as well..... not to mention safety was clearly a wasted spot last year.

By the way - if it's the same ole guys - saying the same ole post - with the same ole perspectives - it kinda feels like a circle-jerk around here.

I just through out a hypothetical -

Luckily this forum is full of Doctors who know sports medicine. It is also full of users who wait for a new thread to pop up just to call it stupid. Must be fun to have a conversation with someone who immediately yells, no that’s stupid, to everything that is said.
