Brandon Hogan Concedes He's Still Not 100%

Recommended Posts

Didn't see this anywhere, sorry if it's late. Per Rotoworld.com:

Panthers CB Brandon Hogan concedes he's still not 100 percent recovered from December, 2010 ACL surgery.

"I think I'm right about there. I still have some swelling, some pain sometimes," Hogan said. "But I just try to push through it and see how it feels afterward." Most players have an 8-10 timetable for ACL surgery. It's disconcerting that Hogan is still battling a year and a half later. If healthy by training camp, he's expected to be in the mix for the No. 2 cornerback job.

Thoughts? I really want to see Hogan come out and destroy everyone for the #2 CB spot, but if he's still feeling pain from that then we might be talking about this same issue next offseason.

Could be due to scar tissue flare ups. It's likely he could never feel the way he did before. If it feels strong and sturdy he should push through it like he said. The pain and inflamation could be a problem forever, could possibly be resolved with clean out scope. It could be something that he has to deal with and fight through to play. For his sake I hope not, he's a good guy

Clean up most of the time does the trick. Or it did in my case at least when I had the same problem. Happens to minority a lot.

Who cares? Marty Hurney needs to stop counting on guys with major injuries. You drafted a guy who had to have ACL surgery as if you couldn't have drafted someone who didn't, Mr. Fixer-Upper.

Beason, Hogan, Davis...I fully expect the same injury-plagued year on defense.

Hurney is always relying on an unproven player.......then the poo hits the fan.

it's not like we spent a top-round pick on him. later rounds are when you tend to take flyers... guys that were highly projected but fell for various reasons.

and we're not relying on him, we're asking him to step up. even if he doesnt, and butler doesn't, and we end up with munnerlyn at CB2 again, the return of our linebacking corps and the growth of the defensive line will be a huge step up.

    • Number 9  Carolina Panthers  Bryce Young, the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, produced career highs in completion percentage (63.6%), passing yards per game (188.2) and passing touchdowns (23) in 2025. However, those numbers aren't exactly stellar by NFL quarterbacking standards. Even though the Panthers backdoored their way into the postseason in 2025 as NFC South champions with an 8-9 record, Young's performance was up-and-down. He threw for the third-fewest passing yards by a quarterback to make the playoffs in the last 20 seasons, per CBS Sports Research.  FEWEST PASSING YARDS BY QB TO REACH PLAYOFFS, LAST 20 SEASONS (MIN. 16 STARTS) PASSING YARDS PLAYOFF WINS 2012 Christian Ponder (MIN) 2,935 0 2008 Joe Flacco (BAL) 2,971 2 2025 Bryce Young (CAR) 3,011 0 2006 Steve McNair (BAL) 3,050 0 2019 Josh Allen (BUF) 3,089 0 Young did deliver some high highs, like when he threw for a franchise-record 448 yards passing in a Week 11 overtime win at the Atlanta Falcons and when he went toe-to-toe with Stafford in the playoffs in a 34-31 defeat.  Kenny Pickett couldn't win the Cleveland Browns' quarterback competition a year ago, and Will Grier is a career backup.
