The NFL is hiring replacement officials

If you didn't think refs/calls couldn't get any worse, think again. Yes, if the Referees Union doesn't reach a deal before the season you will have reserve refs. Who have three months to learn the rule-book.

Talks between NFL and officials for new deal have broken off. NFL has advised all teams it is now working to hire replacement officials.

Refs are spoiled kids anyway so maybe the replacements will except they don't know everything and overturn a few calls. Lets get former defensive guys to do it. Brees gets creamed starts crying, ref slaps the poo out of him and tells him to suck it up.

Basically the refs will be hired from small college football conferences. If you think NFL refs are bad, you are sorely mistaken. Just watch the outcry if these pathetic replacement refs have to officiate a real game that matters.

hard to think it could get worse but I guess common sense says it probably will.

i love it when everyone gets pissed off anyway. should be fun.

those that believe that the betting circles have most of it wired anyway won't have much to worry about. those that believe that everything that happens on the field is untampered with should be terrified. cam-first idiots won't care either way.

the sane among us will be fine going into each game like always. with at cynical disdain for the zebras and an understanding that they will eff it up bigtime when given the opportunity.

    • Luke goes in to the specifics of what he looked to accomplish in joint practices.  Basically they may work with someone on the opposing team to stress something they feel is a weakness in their own game in a different way that can be done with someone they are familiar with. That they can have predetermined stresses but since neither wants to get injured and it has absolutely no bearing on anything there is not the level of concern that would be in a preseason game.  He would also even chat with opposing OC.   It seems like an interesting nuance among the vets and savy pros.
    • Canes are the deepest team in the league.  We have the best 4th line.  Jankowski, Robinson, and Carrier have been very good.
