Time to confess about the 2011 draft

I remember watching cam in the game vs south Carolina when he made a nice play action move and threw a bomb. I looked at my friends and said "thats gonna be our qb". One of friends was like kt and said we wouldn't take him. After that I heard about luck for the first time in my life, looked him up and still wanted to pick cam.

I've studied the media long eoungh to know that if they go out of their way to tear down a particular person, it's because of their own agenda and not because the person isn't deserving. The fact that the media went out of their way to turn any little thing Cam said or did into something negative made me root for him evenmore. At first I was skeptical about the Panthers taking him simply because of all the generated hate but felt that if you guys did, you wouldn't be disappointed.

I said it before and I will say it again, everything in life happens for a reason even if the circumstance isn't great. If Cam didn't screw up at UF, he may have never gotten a chance to shine because he would have been stuck behind The Golden Calf of Bristol. I always felt that Cam fits pefectly with teams that are a bit of a Misfits themselves in the eyes of others. UF didn't need Cam because they had The Golden Calf of Bristol and like just like the media lovefest withTim, Cam would have never gotten a chance to start at UF because everyone was so IN LOVE with Tim regardless of his weaknesses and the school really didn't need Cam.

Cam fell into Blinn's lap and they needed a guy like him to help their team. And help their team he did, all the way to their first championship.Cam fell into Auburn's lap after, what I believe was that agent trying to get Cecil to have Cam sign with his school over the other schools by promising him money. He helped lead the Auburn team to their NC championship in how many years despite the heated media distraction. The Panthers went through the fire for Cam because they knew they needed someone like him and was willing to buck all the fear mongering that was being thrown left, right, and center by those in the sporting world against him. Here's hoping you will be rewarded with a SB sooner than later.

...and I had already scratched off Gabbert because if you actually watched him at Mizzou rather than read scouting reports, you could tell he sucked.

heh the only player I was against more than Fairley was Gabbert.

I lost a lot of respect for guys like Mayock last year based on their evaluation of Gabbert. It was so obvious watching him play that he wasn't even in the same league as Cam. Then after the combine measureables came out, we heard that Gabbert was just as athletic as Cam. These guys may be getting paid to do what they do, but they are often just as clueless and just as biased as your average Joe.

Since then, I have based my opinions on my own evaluation, and will continue to do so in the future.

Not to brag, but I also thought Clausen would completely worthless the moment Carolina foolishly drafted him....while many labeled him the greatest steal in franchise history.

So if Luke works out, I have made Carolina's first pick for 3 yrs my bitch.

Maybe I will only post in pre draft threads...< goes to start 2013 draft thread>

Wanted Cam from the start. I, too, was tired of the bad QB play we had been accustomed to, and knew I couldn't go through another season with Clausen. I was also against the "stop-gap" QB plan because I knew a stop gap QB would get us out of range for a top QB this year, and we'd be stuck in mediocrity. Glad we didn't get Ponder or Dalton, because they wouldn't have been able to do what Cam did with this team.

I didn't want Kueckly, but it's looking like that will be another great pick. I'll admit I'll probably be wrong on that one.

Being an Auburn fan, I was hoping the entire college season that the Panthers would draft Cam. I watched every Auburn game, and was amazed at how many people wrote him off without ever watching a complete game. I watched him throw 35 yard ropes with pinpoint accuracy, then turn around on the next series and break off a 35 yd run.

I wanted Cam over even Luck if he had come out that year.

I wanted Cam as well being a UF fan. Was mad when he made his way back to the SEC and knew Auburn would get someone special with Newton.

I wanted AJ Green. From all the highlights I seen it didn't look like Cam could throw.

I viewed AJ Green as the best player in the draft but viewed Cam as 1b. I wanted him because he was the right fit for this team. Clausen throwing to AJ Green is nothing to me. QBs make WRs more often than WRs make QBs.
